Yep.

Not if he hits floaters. He can get them anytime he wants. That's the thing about him. 1 guy can't stop him from getting in the lane. The proof is there, and it's proven he's quite comfortable down there and there's proof he can do real damage both with the pass and the floater.

Nardi, I think there are a few players in the NBA that can hit a floater.

He hasn't. But if he does, it's big because no one individual can stop him from being in the position to get that particular shot.

Below is someone's post from a different message board...

Trae Young and Steph Curry last 30 Days:

Young: 15 Games: .447 FG%, .402 3PT%, .867 FT%, 25 PTS, 8.7 AST, 4.7 REB, 4.0 TO, .7 ST
Curry: 14 Games: .411 FG%, .370 3PT%, .830 FT%, 24.5 PTS, 5.1 AST, 5.9 REB, 3.2 TO, 1.7 ST

I don't think anyone, myself included, would have predicted Trae would outplay Curry over any 30 day stretch this year. Makes me wonder just how good Trae could be if he had players like Durant, Klay, Draymond, and Cousins to pass to and spread the floor.

He isn't really blowing by point guard defenders. They run high screen roll with him every play and he happens to beat bigs on a lot of those switches.

Donovan Mitchell knows a thing or two about coming on strong in the second half of a rookie season.

Kuzma agrees..

If you want to hang your hat on the prediction he’ll suck going forward, go ahead, but he’s at minimum the 2nd best rookie this year.

He had quite possibly the best setup of any rookie other than Doncic. They placed the ball in his hands from day one and allowed him to play through his mistakes. They also positioned him to be the best player on a shitty team which always helps.

I am ready to write off the prediction that he will be a bust. I was wrong on that it appears. He still won't be an NBA superstar. I think once they get good he will be a 6th man. Its hard to win with a guy who shoots a low percentage and has shitty defense.

Well done shakes. I look forward to your "Carsen Edwards will own this league" thread next year.

Ha, you know I love Carson, but unfortunately that love affair might end in college. Not really a PG and too short to play the 2 in the NBA. But a great college player.

Boom! Should've won this a few weeks ago, but happy he got it this week. Pretty awesome to win this as a rookie.

Absolutely unbelievable. He did it again. 2 games in a row over 30/10.

Also, with his improvement and Luka hitting a wall Trae is now shooting better than Luka overall for the year. Where's Caller Bob now?? Stupid motherfucker.

His line for the game: 33 pts (12/24), 12assists and only 1 turnover.

STUD.

He gets by them with or without screens. He's pulled his Professor moves out since the break.

yep, there hasn't been a player yet he can't beat off the dribble. He goes by everyone. And when ATL runs that quick little high screen hand off to start every possession it gives Trae a lot of options. Really looking forward to seeing just how good Trae can get cause for now his ceiling is starting to look pretty limitless.

He keeps this up til the end of the year and I will have to tap out. It would be utterly stupid to continue to knock the guy's hustle. He definitely isn't a bust.

He is balling.

My vote for coach of the year goes to Pierce. He's anticipated what Young needs every single moment. From bench time to knowing the right time to launch Lin. Also, I think it was you who pointed out that the Future Stars game was a Come To Jesus moment. That game proved to Trae he's special off the dribble and he's never looked back.

Agree 100%. I know there's been some great coaching jobs in Milwaukee and Brooklyn, but I don't think what they've done is as impressive as the magical way Pierce has handled this young roster.

He has certainly improved over the year and is playing great at the moment. I think he wins ROY easily at this point.

The worst defensive point guard that I think I have ever seen.

He doesn't even make an attempt to stop people

Yeah he just dies on every screen and roll. He also is terrible on and off the ball. I don't think he will ever be at least serviceable on D

I don't think anyone here is arguing about his lack of D.

But you proclaimed on page 1 that he was a bust...book it.

He is far from a bust. He has been a great offensive player over the last couple of months

Ok. I'm moving past that. I got it wrong. I'm also hearing that he is a future All Star and Hall of Famer which conveniently goes unchallenged. Wonder why? Actually I don't because I already know why.

I wasn't the guy that said it. That's why.

This kid has a long way to go before he is in that class of truly great players. I think if you are going to give a guy a pass on that then don't come around later talking about how "no one is saying he is good on defense".

He needs to get better on defense if he is going to get in the class of truly great players. He can't continue to be possibly the worst defensive player that I have ever seen and be a future Hall of Famer.

So then James Harden is not in the class of truly great players?

This kid is much worst defensively and nowhere near as efficient offensively. Bad comp
