culvers fries are the worst fast food fries but their burgers are the best. I like the smaller crinkle cut of portillos but perfer other brands of fries.

We are getting both a 5 guys and a portillos in the Quad Cities after not having either all this time. But i drove through peoria and had the choice of either and chose 5 guys yesterday.

Sadly, Five Guys is a shell of what it was before they sold out to a private equity firm, the burger meat is not nearly as high quality. Hopefully Portillo's won't suffer the same fate.

I can't eat Five Guys' fries, as they are cooked in peanut oil and really absorb it. When I want that style of fry, I make the trek to Gene N Jude's.

Beef Shack is quite good. They were in St. Charles and now have a DeKalb location. Little bit of a wait for the food but fresh cut fries, good burger and good italian beef. Best ordered without cheese.

Mr. Beef in Homer Glen is my favorite...def better than the downtown one

and the owner is basically a Soup Nazi too...they won't give you juice on the side if you ask, and they're basically open for like 4 hours a day. Never seen a beef place that closes at like 6pm

It's my favorite for beef, but fuck it I just can't fit a tight window on Saturday, and then at least twice I've gone there on a Saturday and they are closed. Plus they have RC like a bunch of immigrants who don't know any better.

Scooby's in Arlington Heights keeps fairly odd hours too, I think they open at like 10 and close at 6. Who's eating hot dogs and Italian beef at 10 in the morning?

As for iced tea, I like it unsweetened and switch back and forth between hot-brewed and cold-brewed, as well as between lemon/no lemon. Can't really do sweet tea anymore.

Gene's & Jude's is worth the drive from anywhere in Chicagoland. Hot dogs and fries. Both best in the midwest, in my opinion. Always make it a point to head there when I'm in town. Portillo's too.

A regular burger, fries, and a drink at 5 Guys is about $17. Yeah, a regular burger burger is a big double and a regular fry is enough for 2 people, but if you don't pay attention and just order what you think is normal you're in for some sticker shock.

If you are serving RC, you have just announced to the world that your place is owned, or financed, by JORR's drinking "buddies."

Whenever we go I always tell them i want ketchup on the hot dog so they get all douchey about it. "WE DO NOT APPLY KETCHUP, BUT THERE ARE PACKETS OVER THERE!!" meanwhile my wife rolls her eyes and the kids groan out loud.

we were on our way to our annual fishing trip and stopped at 5 guys. my dad and his 2 buddies had never been. i went and took a leak came back out to my dad finishing up ordering. i put my order in for a small bacon cheeseburger, and then asked my dad about fries, he says, yeah we all got fries. i'm liek what size. regulars. oh geez i kind of look at the lady taking our order like you couldn't help them out a bit? i get no fries. dad is like why no fries? i said you'll see. of course all of them are griping at the price but then they realized why when it came out.
