Heading down to Orlando this summer. Taking our little one, who is 4. I am going to do some fishing, but aside from that, we have free days. What is the best way to go about these parks? If we attended just one or two, which would be the best?

Don't let me down, Frank.

Go to the beach.

Orlando in the summer is similar to being in the 9th circle of hell, or St Louis...whatever.

Yeah, May through the middle of September is pretty fucking humid down there.

Good luck.

I took my kids first when my youngest was 4-5 and again the other two last year at 18-19. They do not remember all of it when so young but the magic in their eyes is real. In fact, the story telling of the previous visit and the magic in their eyes again was something. My middle daughter actually started to retrieve actual memorizes.

Some family of mine just returned from Discovery Cove and that was highly rated. Can't say for 4 y/o though. Other than that relax and do whatever. Skip Epcot and go to Animal Kingdom? For yourselves not kids Universal is far superior.

Appreciate the advice, but we will have to attend at least 1 park. I'm just not sure which one would be most enjoyed by an almost-5-year-old. We are going in May, so hopefully it won't be blistering hot, though it probably will be.

Make a decision what park(s) you will do quickly so you can sign up online for your fast pass reservations.

For a little kid I would focus in on the Magic Kingdom for a couple days and then go over by Sanibel or something to the gulf beaches. warm water, calm waves, sea shells. kids love the beach more than standing around all day in lines at Universal, etc.

Don't go to a park on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Schedule a break because you might want to go back to your hotel for a bit to cool off and maybe let the little guy nap. Get your fast passes early because the crowds will be insane. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are probably best for the kids, but there is some cool stuff at Hollywood Studios too and if you don't do the Star Wars nerd part of the park, you can do most of that stuff in half a day.

May is not summer

Disney Parks are worse than casinos in strategically finding ways to separate you from your money. I stayed at a resort away from the parks. The pool there was nice. As someone else said go to the beach if you can. I recommend the Gulf ones.

Your daughter will probably enjoy the Magic Kingdom. You can book lunch with her favorite characters. I found Epcot to be run-down and neglected. After one day you and your family will probably have your fill.

I found having to do this and zig zagging the park to do the things as schedule a pain. Not as much as line waiting but still.

Hollywood Studio's tip...(if you are into Star Wars)...book an early morning character breakfast at that park before it opens to the general public, that way you can sign up your kid to do the star wars show that day before it opens to the general public..that thing books up within 15-20 min of the park opening.

By May it will be 90 as the high, 70 as the low and rain for a few hours everyday.

WaitingforCallerBob is 100% dead wrong on this. This is a great park. Not the best for littler kids, but its an awesome park.

If you stay off Disney property you will have to pay to park. Disney guests also get "magic hours" where they get extra hours of park time (early AM or late PM) that are not open to the general public.

The gem of a smaller coastal beach we went to was Cocoa Beach. Worked out great.

We just went in January and like the above posters mentioned i couldn't even IMAGINE going down there in the summer. Definitely Magic Kingdom for little ones and to be honest with a 4-year old Magic Kingdom may be enough. Epcot has some little kid stuff but not too much and Hollywood Studios is kind of the same, although they have Toy Story Land which is really awesome if your little one is into that. Animal Kingdom is pretty cool. If I were you I would go Magic Kingdom and if you felt compelled to do another park I would hit Animal Kingdom. You can carry in snacks and drinks, and you can also get free water at all the counter service restaurants in the park. We would walk in in the morning with water bottles and just constantly refill them for free all day and avoid the expensive drinks. In the summer in particular you can easily dehydrate with all the walking.

Yep. I only said skip it due to kid's age.

Can't stress this enough, but you really need to buy your tickets now so you can do your fast pass thing online. Depending on the days, hate to be a negative nancy, but you might be screwed on the best times/rides. Get on this..

May is not summer

It’s the start of summer conditions in FL.

89 degrees tomorrow in Orlando.

Trust me and my sweaty ass when I lived down there.

I didn't say it would be cool weather, I just correctly pointed out that May is 20 some days short of Summer

I believe we have different definitions of awesome. It's fine for what it is. I was surprised how little it had changed from the 90s when I was last there a few years ago.

Fast Pass is critical for some of the attractions. I also recommend the mydisneyexperience app for your visit. That app is so helpful i cant even begin to emphasize it. Wait times, online food ordering (saves you a bunch of time waiting in line for food), managing and searching for fast-passes, that app can make your visit much easier.

This is a great tip. There is a place in Magic Kingdom that does that too. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dinin ... al-palace/

Its pricey for breakfast (say hi to JUAN for me?), but its all you can eat so fill up with a shit ton of bacon, and pack a few snacks for later so you can save some $ and skip lunch.

Another great tip from mofo...the App is a must. Super easy to use and very informative.

Was there some sort of Whites Only section of Epcot that I missed when I was there six times during the 90s?

On a side note, what age do you guys think is a good age to take a child to a Disney Park?

4 or 5 seems like a good age where they can actually remember the experience.

What days are you going leash?

Regular Fast pass opens up 30 days from your visit... People staying in Disney resorts already had access 2 months out. Once they open it up to general public the best times will be pillaged
