If he's the highest ranked player on their board, better than reaching on a DB that was 10 spots lower. We'll see. It's a crapshoot, but if he's talented, things will work out.

I knew these jagoffs would skip the Bears pick review

"Perfect fit in that offense. They just got a Top 50 player in my opinion." - @MoveTheSticks on the Ridley pick.

In Dane Brugler's draft guide (Athletic writer), he had Ridley as 59th overall and the 8th best WR. Bears get him at 126.

Calvin Ridleys brother

He was fairly high on the board of remaining players.

Interesting depth chart at WR. I assume that they're hoping Miller becomes a #2 next season. Wims is probably fighting for his roster spot unless Patterson is being defined as a hybrid player.

#1 Allan Robinson
#2 Taylor Gabriel
#3 Anthony Miller
#4 Cordarrelle Patterson
#5 Javon Wims

I think Wims is safe. 5 wrs + Patterson @ hybrid is solid.

We don’t have a pick in the next round and we’re pretty much guaranteed to lose HaHa after this season.. you’d think the kid from Bamma would have made sense here..

..I like Ridley btw, just thought defense might make sense here

Bears don’t really run an over the top of the defense type of offense so this pick is a little weird to me. It’s more of a quick read type of offense with the occasional shot down field.. guess we’ll see how it all plays out.

Feels like Javon Wims 2.0 tho

Better route runner than Wims.
More like a replacement for Allen Robinson.
4th round go for best player available with the quality of starters on the team.

Neither Wims nor Ridley played enough to say who has the better route tree imo.. they’re very similar players as far as how Georgia used them and in terms of physicality. Don’t know that id agree he was the best player available either.

Fuck.. Bears could have addressed some needs without the trade and still been able to draft Trayveon Williams..

..once again, Pace doesn’t come out of a draft without questions over whether or not he needed to trade up..

All the kickers in this draft suck. No point wasting a pick on one.

If you draft by need, you are more likely going to be reaching on picks vs. just taking the highest rated player on your board. If they drafted a DB in Round 4, wouldn't there still be questions over whether they answered that question? Pace has been a strong drafter in the mid-rounds. Keep to the overall board and don't reach based on need.

Pace traded up in the 3rd ffs.. lol don’t talk about not reaching and ‘best guy on the board’..

Not sure where they had guys ranked (none of us know what their draft board looks like) so this is all based off of our opinions.. and it’s my opinion that there was better value still there at #87 than what they got by trading up to #62.

Also, it is possible to address a need while also getting the best value. And that’s what I meant by my comment.
