I’ve gotten out 8 times which is pretty much in line with the last few years. I’ve been out as many as 12 before May but that appears to be the outlier. Praying for a relatively dry May at least on the weekends.

Two 18 hole rounds and a cold, windy 9 hole round thus far. Thats pretty brutal for me, especially because I don't mind putting a thermal shirt on and playing when temps are in the 40s. If it was going to be dry tomorrow, I'd be out there at 6am.

Managed to get out at dawn and get in 18 holes on Saturday at Waters Edge. Course was in fairly nice shape. Since there were only about a dozen people out there total, pace was not an issue as is usually is at that place. Didn't warm up much and having not played in three weeks, I was rusty which lead to a few lost balls and MANY three putts. The cool temps and the sleet during the final two and a half holes definitely had an effect on my score, though I still managed to keep it double digits with a 99 (52-47). Have a day off on Thursday so I was hoping to get out but I'm not sure how all this water is going to drain. Really been a terrible spring thus far. Hoping May brings better days because April and March can get fucked.

Just ordered some Vice drive golf balls for the summer. Going back to our previous discussion here is why.

One, I want to use a decent golf ball at a good price. These came in a 10.95 a dozen plus flat rate ship from Munich 6.95. I bought 5.

Two, I wanted to stick with one ball all summer and work on what my problems and not the ball were.

Three, these are similar to the Warbird in my opinion and I did not want a ton of spin and "magic" tricks to influence ball flight this year. I can't control it anyway and I want to see again what my problems are.

Four, I just felt like this was the way to go so there I went. Updates will come periodically.

After finally some real testing I pronounce these economy golf balls very good. As with anything, for me anyway they are. Probably the biggest noticeable thing to me was in a complete round yesterday I did not lose a single ball. On the other hand I did somehow gouge one a bit while playing and I didn't notice until I screwed up the next hole's drive.

No need for this guy to mention his scoring.

Keeping it in play. Way to be, Mike.

Durability is the only real complaint I hear about direct to market balls like Snell, Vice and Cut.

I sure I mentioned it before but that was my biggest gripe on the Vice, that they got scuffed and beat up pretty easily.

Yeah but for the price and my level that is fine. I have never quite given a ball a hang nail sort of like this before.

My golf league partner is using some new Titlist ball I never heard of, says its between PROV1 and a PROV1X. He plays to a 6 handicap.

We did good in the first round of golf league. Finished in 4th in our division. I shot a 44, not bad for first time out.

Probably the AVX. I liked them but not willing to pay $50 a box.

No golf last weekend.

No motorcycle shopping either. WTF.

All this rain is probably going to put a few holes on my course under water. :(

Probably going to be soggy this weekend but that beats the alternative. We have 6 am tee times both days. Got the driver with new shaft regripped last night. Third grip installed after third new shaft. Hope that’s the end of the search.

Found a website offering great deals for twosomes with a cart. Website is called Golf Moose. Ike at least half off pricing. Other than not being able to use it in select holidays and having to tee off in the afternoon, which is ok with most, seems like a good deal. 2 players with cart at Prairie Landing for $89 or 2 and cart at Shepherds Crook for $59 seems too good to be true.

Looks like it just started with most offers being in Illinois and California. Nothing in Pennsylvania

On that topic by the way... We have a local course my buddy and I like to play. It is good, challenging and economical. Anyway, they post their own tee time system up on their own website. Smartly, as the day goes on the price goes down. we can generally get a steal for 18 and a cart after 11am any day. Noon worst because the hard cores are all already out.

Well Mr. pro or investor at the desk has to comment every fucking time. "Oh what a great price you guys got somehow". Well fuck off. If you don't want us to get a great price on your course don't offer it and watch the tumbleweeds.

Rant off.

Supposed to play George Dunne at 7:15 tomorrow morning. I can't see how the course will even be playable, and carts aren't likely be out here until Sunday

What a horrific start to the golf season.

Similar story. My course up n Wisconsin, Lawsonia, was on Golfnow a couple years ago before I became a member. As part of the deal with Golfnow, Golfnow gets to grab a small block of tee times and charge whatever they want. At Lawsonia that block was around 3:00 and the price was a ridiculous $10 with a cart. The normal price is $95. I started using a couple of those tee times and then one day I go in and the head pro says to me, "oh look who's here again at Golfnow o'clock". At the time I didn't know about the golfnow set up and assumed that the course was setting those prices.

I felt bad since I play there all the time and after that I never went back for golfnow O'clock.

golf league tonight, so far no cancellation so I assume that means the course is not totally under water. 4:40 tee time. Not bad out now, but supposed to drop like 10 degrees around 6pm.

I would do same if $10. Ours is not that discounted.

the cost of doing business with Golf Now is having to offer the 2 hot deals each day.

Passive-aggressive pro shop guys who brings it up to the customer can eat a dick.

Agreed. Courses should not hook up with GolfNow (Teetime.com, etc) if they have a problem with it.

I agree. They would rather the course sit empty? Getting people to play is the goal and it doesn't cost them a dime. They may buy a sleeve of balls, a hat, a couple beers, etc.

Pretty wet out there, we played middle tees again so it wasn't crazy long but 6600 with no roll plays long enough. 42 with a double on the front, just couldn't get it going. Played flawless on the back with a 34. Birdied both par 5s and managed to par the rest with some nice chipping and putting. Hitting the new driver better but higher than I'd like. Just happy it's going better finally and finding some fairways. Back at it tomorrow on the other course. Hour frost delay but nice after the sun came up. Hope you other fools get out today or tomorrow

Another beautiful day. Short sleeves and khakis, gotta love it. 78 with two double bogeys. . Was +4 going to last hole and decided I’d try to cut the corner and shoot 75 with a birdie. I dunked it in the pond and took 6. I learned I don’t need to be so aggressive on that hold with trying to drive the green

On a whim, went out and walked nine holes. Doubled the 1st, with a three-putt, put up a 10 on the par 5 second hole. Got it together after that, and hit some nice shots to card a 49.

Absolutely gorgeous day for golf.
