Decided to give 9 a try yesterday afternoon. Back was sore after playing hockey in the morning, but figured I'd give it a shot since I was able to do it a couple weeks ago with no problem.

Big difference today. Shanked most of my iron shots and shot a 53. Only shot that well because I hit the driver down the middle all day. I'm getting very close to being done with this game for good. Very close. I'm getting to the point where I receive no pleasure from playing golf.

Can't you just give your back a day or two to rest before golf? Maybe cut back on the golf a little so that you can still enjoy it when you do get out?

Weather (so far) looks promising for this weekend again. Gonna get to the course early on Saturday to work on my short game ahead of an "inviational" tournament a bunch of buddies and I do every year. Winner gets an ugly mustard colored jacket!

On the other hand, maybe he figures in 5 years when he is sixty he isn't gonna be able to walk anyway so might as well smoke 'em if you got 'em.

That isn't a terrible angle.

yea, I was hoping I could pull off the hockey/golf double header cause I really want to keep playing hockey Saturday and Sunday mornings all summer, but that was obviously a miscalculation on my end. Looking to find some alternative hockey options so I can at least free up one of those weekend days for golf.

This is unfortunately true. I once had a neurosurgeon describe he as "half medical miracle, half moron"

I hope I'm not walking in 5 years. I already look at people in wheel chairs with lots of envy. Besides, I'm really looking forward to what tees I get to play when I show up to the first tee in a Casey Martin contraption.

golf league last night. Started out with the shanks, but started to sort it out in the round. Basically sorted it out by giving up on trying to rotate my body on the backswing and swing inside out. Basically I've come the realization that I can't do that. So just bringing the club straight back, focusing on not bringing it inside my body which puts me in the shank zone. Ended up with a 49.

A bit cool this weekend but dry so I’ll take it. Two rounds scheduled. Anyone else getting out?

I think we are skipping Sunday league this week due to mother's day. Will try to squeeze in something but not certain. The very least will be a range session and a short game session in the yard.

Yup. 8:30 tomorrow. Not ideal weather, but like you said at least its dry. A short Par 65 course, so I'm hoping to break 80.

Six 3putts, a 4putt, and a whiff today. I did have some good shots mixed in (9 GIR and 7 pars) but those bad ones really left a sour taste in my mouth. Pretty poor.

80 yesterday with two doubles. 77 today. Even par 36 on the front and then a double on 11 and a triple on 17 killed the card. Weather looks like it may finally break next weekend. Very wet up here but happy to be playing.

Finished middle of the pack in the scramble. We just couldn't get approaches close. Our "A" player warned me that he has been struggling from 100 yards and in and wanted me to hit last on those shots. I think it got in our heads. Twice from 90 yards we didn't even hit the green.

On Sunday I ended up playing my opening round match in our summer long match play event. I won 6 and 5!

It was scramble night in the golf league yesterday. My partner had a banquet to go to so we got out an hour before the league with a cart and finished the 9 holes in an hour and ten. I continue to be on the every other shot plan where I either have a great shot or a shank with an even 50/50 split it seems. But, I sunk 2 long putts and my partner sunk 1 as well. We ended up first place for the night with a - 4 gross and a -7 net for a 2 stroke win. This is after I declared our chances over after we parred the first hole which is a really easy short par 5.

My highlight was a natural birdie on a par 3 where I put a 6 iron 15 feet past and the sunk the putt.

Still haven't played a 18 hole round this year, not really sure if I even will.

Nice. I’d like to check that out sometime. Hoping to play all three days over holiday weekend. I sat out last weekend feeling ill. I have a meeting in northern IL tomorrow and may very likely hit Pine Meadow on the way back up for a session with a jumbo bucket. That bucket being about 180 balls

Played for the first time all year last friday.

Hermann Park golf course, about 2 miles from my house. It's a short (Par 70) muni course right in the heart of Houston with some really cool views of the city and the larger Hermann Park setting.

Shot a 49 on the front nine and a 46 on the back. Carded one birdie and three pars. That tells you about all you need to know about my golf game.

First round of the year. Probably hit about 1,500 balls in the range in two months.

Getting dialed in, just have to remember how to swing with each club.  :| :D :bom:

Have to work Friday afternoon. So it will be a sober round. Will see if that makes my game better or worse.

Moved to the tips and wet conditions make that a tough one. Two lost balls and 6 missed putts inside 7 feet. Putter has been put into jail for the first time this year and pulled out the old Ping Pal 2 that I bought when I was 13. I got it back from a friend last year and haven't putted with it for 25 years. Slapped a Super Stroke Flatso 3.0 on it last year and I put some lead tape on the bottom this afternoon to match the other putters weight. It's one inch longer as well so that brings in a potential cross handed grip if things get really desperate  should be interesting. Hope you guys are getting out there this weekend. Golf looks promising next two mornings in SE Wisconsin.

Hoping to play tomorrow and Monday. Haven't been able to play at all this week - course is too wet for play.

We got about a half inch of rain yesterday, followed by about another inch in about 30 minutes so far today, with more to come later. Ain’t happenin’.

Ravisloe greens kicked my ass, although they were more like RaviSLOW, and I hate slow greens. Need a practice round-type day out there just to figure it all out.

On year 4 w/ my Iomic Sticky 2.3 grips and they are still holding up nicely. Kind of insane actually. Better grips are worth it.

I think I finally found a reason to justify new irons: too many clubs from 7-GW, especially 9-GW. Probably going Mizuno JPX-900 Hot Metal w/Modus 3 105 shafts for now, with the goal of getting down to a 12 club setup for walking/carrying. I could see strengthening/weakening the lofts on a few clubs to drop an iron.

Plans to get out to Rockford-area gems Prairie View in Byron and Glen Erin in Janesville are in serious doubt now with the forecast. Fuck this.

Played all three days but very poorly. 83,84, and 80. I made it to twelve yesterday at even and proceeded to go bogey, double, bogey, triple to ruin my round. Biggest problem has been missing fairways and greens. The new putter saved me yesterday. 11 putts on the front. I’m guessing I made close to 100 ft in putts all day including a few over 25 ft. Course was soaked. They have the last par five in the on course set up at 640 yards. Takes a 260 drive to get to the fairway. From there you have a decision to go over the water 210 out of lay up and have over 200 in. Brutal hole and it screwed me all weekend with two doubles and a triple. Still good to get out. Hope it dries out soon.
