Kicked well before getting hurt last year. Raiders are set on Carlson.

Exactly. And we had nothing at the position until Jon helped us out again.

I love Jon Gruden.

It's the truth.

Can you really go into an NFL season with a kicker name Blewitt?

I like to hear those numbers versus some of these other chumps they have in converting in the 60% range.

I haven't seen the leg strength numbers.

Hit an 81 yd field goal in practice at Florida as a Senior.

Didn't play my college ball anywhere so can only guess that 40 yards at soldier field in January is substantially more difficult than 81 yards in a florida swamp in May.

I won't defend this guy because I know nothing about him. I will say though that a 81 yarder in practice might mean something. Maybe if means over a long range he kicks a straight ball. Not one of these guys that has things curving this way and that. Indication of over potential to be accurate?

Give me a guy who hit +90% from 40-49 and I'll live with a little weaker leg.

Me too. I just do not like kickers that have kick trajectories like my bad golf shots. I prefer straight like I saw in that video than a banana arc.

If you find a guy who is 90% from 40-49 for more than one season, you literally have found the best FG kicker in NFL History.

For reference, from those distances;
Justin Tucker 89%
Matt Bryant 80%
Adam Vinatieri 78%
Stephen Gostkowski 78%
Robbie Gould 77%
Morten Anderson, who is in the HOF, 68%

I like what I see, but worry that there is a reason he became available for basically nothing.

The same things were most likely said when the chiefs claimed Harrison Butler off the Panthers scrapheap two years ago.

guy who has made 90% of his kicks thru 2 years on the job. great kickers come out of no where... gould was working construction before he got bears job. meanwhile a second draft pick ended up being atrocious

I believe Elliott was also available for anyone who wanted him at the same time as Buetker.

Pace chose some other bum veteran.

He won the Raiders kicking job to being the season but pulled his hamstring. They bounced around for a few weeks until the Vikings cut Carlson. He signed with the Raiders and was excellent.

I look at it this way, the Raiders chose to spend the money to keep him on IR the whole year rather than cutting him when he was healthy or agreeing to a settlement so they must have placed some value on him and thought others did as well.

Everyday Eddie!

I think the Raiders want the Bears to win.

There are a lot of Bears fans in Vegas. Raiders want to be the Bears farm team like the Iowa Cubs.
