Congratulations Matt Forte.

You're the starting running back for the Chicago Bears.

Unless of course the Bears bring in a veteran back that gets cut. Pretty sure they will.

Biggest RB bust in Bears history?

At least Curtis Enis was done in by injury(from what I remember).

It's sad that you could tell something was wrong when he started crying when being interviewed after getting drafted.

Yeah. He is the biggest bust. Even Saalam had a 1000 yard season.

Does anybody have Ced Benson in the dead pool? He may be a suicide candidate after today.

Well, it looks like Forte was the correct pick in this draft, as he was one of the few backs who could play every down, which is what the Bears need.

Why would he kill himself? He's got 14 million in the bank. I have more reason to kill myself.

I won't cuz I know you guys will miss me.

I'd like to say a few words about a guy I know, a friend of mine. His name is Cedric Benson, and he has the destructive habits of a giant and that rare form of alcoholism which allows him to kid himself and his opponent -- management.

He has a mental attitude which makes me proud to have a friend who spells out "loser", 24 hours a day, every day of his life.

I love Cedric Benson.

And I'd like all of you to love him too.

And tonight, when you hit your knees:

Please ask God to love him.

I can't wait for the Matt Forte era, or the second Adrian Peterson thing :pale: .

Message to Jerry Don't draft a stoner to play for your team.

That's true. He's more likely to drink himself into a stupor, get behind the wheel, and crash into an innocent bystander.

Go get Shaun Alexander. He's got to have enough left to be able to split time with Forte and provide some quality downs on a part-time basis.

Or somebody. Who else is out there?

Travis Henry - No.

I'm glad they moved faster on this one than they did with Tank

Despite the $3 million salary cap hit, the Bears had no choice but to cut their losses with a guy who was a flop from the getgo. Even before Cedric Benson got arrested for alleged boating while intoxicated and his weekend DWI arrest in Austin, TX., he was slow, ineffective and was also injury-riddled during his time here. You may remember he suffered what seemed like a career-threatening ankle injury last season, and there were warning signs by 670 "The SCORE's" Doug Buffone & Hub Arkush, also the Editor/Publisher of Pro Football Weekly, that he'd never fully recover. This was before the drafting of second round pick Matt Forte in the NFL Draft and 2 arrests within the last 6 weeks. While it's unclear if some sucker, I mean team, will take a chance on Benson, I am reasonably sure NFL Commissioner Roger "The New Sheriff in Town" Goodell will suspend Benson if he signs elsewhere.

Only because Benson isn't as good as Tank was--and they're not in the middle of a Superbowl run.

Actually doing a little research, I want Kevin Jones. He'd be perfect to take some carries - play 3rd downs. He's due to be healthy. I still think he's got a few years left.

Kevin Jones. The answer to all the Bears problems.

And I don't think he owns a boat.

Not sure if you posted it but someone said the same thing after he was drafted. I disagreed. I just chalked it up to a guy being happy he got drafted. He was terrible. The Bears just became a better team. Grossman and Orton should feel better that they don't have to rely on him blocking.

I wasn't here back then. I vividly remember seeing that happen and turning to my dad and saying that was already a bad sign.

It wasn't that he was crying, but it was that he seemed unable to handle the pressure of the rookie interview process. If you can't handle walking around in your underwear and answer story problems then you can't handle being an NFL running back.

Not sure if this was a joke or not, but I hope for this guys sake he gets some help. He seems like a pretty troubled kid, and we've seen the stories of bust athletes who spiral downwards exponentially after being flushed out of sports. Hopefully this sends a message to him.

I thought I was the only Kevin Jones fan. Injuries have been his biggest issue. When healthy he plays well. He catches the ball well too and has the ability to make a guy miss. I would be on the phone with him right now.

Count me in on drinking the Jones Kool Aid as well.

They might be able to get someone like LaMont Jordan from Oakland for Rickey Manning Junior.

You can't tell me that Benson won't get signed.
but for what kind of compensation is the question.
Also, I had heard that the Bears cazn attempt to get some of the signing bonus back? Any truth to that?

He'll definitely get signed somewhere else. To a short, incentive laden contract Im guessing. If his recent history is any indication he wont last long though.

I dont know what Benson's contract status is. I dont know if there were any conduct clauses in his contract, if there were Im guessing the Bears can get some of that bonus back.

I dont know about that. Given the Bears landscape right now, you really want to start off on that foot with the fans? I gotta think Bears fans are tiring of selfish, stupid athletes.

I'd take a look at Travis Henry before Shaun Alexander. Alexander's at the end of his career. He's too susceptable to injury.

Kevin Jones would be a good option.

I think Alexander is done.

If Travis Henry couldnt make it in Denver, what makes you think he would make it here?

LaMont Jordan might be a decent option as well.

Alexander blows, Hawks have a better QB and O-Line then the Bears and he did shit.

What if Benson is innocent on both charges?

Here's a couple of other available players:

Samkon Gado
Vernon Haynes
Travis Minor
Musa Smith
A train

All of these guys are bigger backs and not going to get your panties damp, but for a roster spot, you could do worse. personally, I'm with Dr. Ken and like Kevin jones. I always thought he had the ability but was stuck on bad teams.

The Raiders are about to cut their guy after they took McFadden. What's his name? I know he's pretty good.
