I was a kid so I didn’t appreciate what I had at the time but man they were great. I like Romo a lot but nobody working today is in the same stratosphere as they were.

Didn't we used to have a good Summerall mult? Did Bigfan kill him?

Ike Reilly likes to tell a story about when he was working as a bellman at the Park Hyatt. I guess Summerall was living there at the time. Every Sunday Summerall would give Ike a hundred dollar bill and have him go to Walgreen's to buy a bottle of booze. He let him keep the change. Then Summerall went to rehab and got sober. The punch line is, "That motherfucker getting clean cost me $2500 a year."

Mid-80s Madden and Summerall is the greatest sports broadcasting duo of all time. For solo, Vin Scully is at the same level.

My dad barely knows the fundamentals of football, but he used to love watching games with Madden because he'd always learn something.

Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier were pretty entertaining.

Every summer, I watch two videos on YouTube to get ready for football season:

1. Wilber Marshall almost killing Joe Ferguson (Tim Ryan and Johnny Morris on the call, Johnny is sure Ferguson was dead but doesn't know what to say until he sees him finally move)
2. Summerall and Madden with excerpts of the Dallas game in 85.

Jesus Christ! How was anyone even allowed to play on that carpeted concrete? He should have been dead.
