Actually....Alex Rios should have sealed the Kenny Williams & Co. fate but he prevailed. Nothing new here...unless we want to reminisce the whole Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoche signings.

Another start by Castillo yesterday at .175 BA and a .375 BA hitter is one the bench. Is McCann hurt? I know he got a foul tip in the "nads" a couple of games ago which rocked him(pun intended). But watching Castillo take up space in the line-up and on the field is driving me crazy. Anyone with decent speed on first base pretty much gets 2nd base automatically with him in there. Bring that rookie up from 3A and send Castillo packing, please.

The saving grace may be if they can flip Colome for something decent. I wish he was pitching like this in mid-July. I doubt he will be.

AL is weak other than 5 teams. So it's possible he's still mowing down the weak sisters come July.

The guy is a very good relief pitcher. I do not get the fucking undervaluing that goes on here? Now then, if they can trade a QUALITY PLAYER like him for some good young players with at least strong 2-3A credentials. But, in no way should anyone downgrade the worth of this guy. He is a proven and very good professional closer and has been for awhile.

This trade seems to be working out for us so far. I was very against it too.

Going into this year his career WHIP was around 1.2. That's way higher than a "very good relief pitcher".

The Rays lost their top three catchers to the DL within about a week, and had to trade for Travis d'Anurad (sp?) and Erik fucking Kratz. You mean to tell me that Hahn couldn't pry one of the Rays surplus of AAA infielders for Castillo and maybe $2M of salary relief?

Doesn't he make $7.5M this season? They probably owe around $5M remaining. TB isn't going to pay a cent. Sox would have to pay the salary to have any hopes of getting anything back, and I doubt Castillo would bring anything of value back anyways.

If they can get a bucket of baseballs and a box of Big League Chew for him, I'd be okay with it. I just do not wish to see him behind the plate anymore.

The Rays have a bunch of guys in AAA Durham that they're going to have to decide if they deserve a 40 man space. You should be able to get their 4th starter or their 4th best infielder if you pay most of Castillo's salary the rest of the way.

Quite a bit of the WHIP number came when he was a starter with the Rays early on. He averaged over 40 saves in 2016 and 2017 and had 30 holds in a set-up guy role with the Mariners in 2018. Plus he is only 30 years old. For me, that is a valuable player and an anchor for a team that has very few veterans that are worth a shit in their pitching ranks.

Even if the White Sox paid his entire salary, they'd be lucky to get a fringe prospect for Castillo.

I just hope that this worthless piece of shit isn't holding up the progress of the kid in 3A. Enough already. Let the kids play and prove themselves. It hurts my eyes to see Castillo and Alonzo taking up space in the line-up not only offensively but also defensively.

I know Collins was a 1st round pick, but most recent reports I've seen say he's got development ahead of him before he makes the majors. For now, I don't think he's being blocked. He's probably a later this season call-up and/or competing next year for a roster spot.

As much as Castillo isn't part of the future and has been a bust, he won't be here after this season.

You're probably right about that. He probably needs another year of development.

Now I see Hahn talking about trading Mc Cann.

Kevan Smith is hitting .300 as a backup on the Angels. Narvaez is playing at an All Star level. Tyler Flowers blossomed into a good player after being non tendered. Mc Cann is playing like an all star. The league is littered with productive former sox catchers.

Wellington Castillo though, that's a guy that should be signed to a big deal.

Hahn is a fucking clown and the Sox will end up like the Pirates.

And you didn't even mention Josh Phegley.

The catcher that should be brought up is Mercedes from Birmingham. Hitting .330 with good power numbers and good defensive stats. Fulmer is also pitching well in Charlotte in relief. That game yesterday showed how thin the back of the pen is. They were lucky last night but are asking for trouble stretching Colome like they did. He threw like 35 pitches and some of them hung up in the zone. They'd better figure this out quickly or Colome will be used up needlessly.
