They should have played Sanders more nationally. Maybe like Thanksgiving or something?

The only reason why Fouts didn't win a Superbowl is because he had to play in the AFC Championship Freezer-Bowl against Cincinatti in '81 in minus 9 Fahrenheit temps. The wind chill was -37 degrees, the coldest ever for an NFL game.

The '80 AFC Championship Game he played in against the Raiders was one of the greatest games ever played. Plunkett got lucky with the deflection pass that went for a TD.

Bumping this for RDFC, so it's not lost to the memory hole.

The Chargers had to go from playing on the road in Miami, which they beat in their house in what's considered by some the greatest NFL game (Fouts' go-ahead pass falling in the hands of his running back in the back right corner of the end zone, whom he wasn't even throwing to) to play in Cincinatti on the coldest day in the 20th century. The circumstances were not only unfair, they were inhumane. There were players like Winslow that suffered permanent frostbite. The league was lucky someone didn't die. That's just crazy to me that they would play a game in those conditions. I never understood it.

Agreed on the first two, take away Stickum and both Hayes & Beletnikoff are both afterthoughts.

Excepting the accepted rules of an era is a slippery slope. You know this.

Ever put on a pair of those receiver gloves they wear today?

The most vibrant colors on their uniforms were reddish orange and brown. They were the absolute worst , but it was the Raiders way, and I loved them for that.

And yes I've worn the tackified receivers gloves. They too are ridiculous.

Jeff George. I'm doubling down.

He should have been as good as Marino. Look at any highlights of him and it's obvious to anyone except dimwits.

The pass at 3:33 says it all.
