Came out last month. I watched episode 1 yesterday. It's really well done.

I decided to go gluten and booze free until the 4th of July to go along with my renewed fitness routine. This show made my mouth water. Sometime in July, I'm going to make the Cubano and grilled cheese recipes. The Pepper Pot soup may come sooner...vegetarian and very spicy.

If you haven't seen the movie Chef yet, you should go ahead and do that too.

Roy Choi and Jon Favreau, two very big deals in the increasingly overlapping worlds of food and entertainment, are teaming up for a new Netflix series called The Chef Show that will showcase their favorite dining destinations and culinary inspirations across the country. The friends will be joined on their journey by an ever-rotating cast of guest stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert Downey Jr., David Chang, Evan Kleiman, Jazz Singsanong, Andrew Rea, Bill Burr, Robert Rodriguez, Tom Holland, Kevin Feige, and Joe and Anthony Russo.

I was just looking for something to watch this weekend besides "When They See Us", thanks!

Funny moment near the end.

They wrap up by making Cafe Du Monde beignets. They look fantastic. Favreau happily pops a couple in his mouth while the chef takes a bite of one, makes a bit of a face and not so discreetly drops it in the trash. at first I thought he was just being chef-y...but then he says, yeah, those are stale as fuck. The box was like a year past it's "best if used by" date. It's cool that they just left that in and didn't edit it out.

Quote:
There’s a moment at the beginning of The Chef Show that feels like it would have landed on the cutting-room floor, were this any other food TV series. Roy Choi, the Los Angeles chef behind the ever-evolving Kogi empire, has just agreed to help his pal, Hollywood player Jon Favreau, to make a batch of beignets using boxed mix from New Orleans’s famed Cafe Du Monde. After making the dough (just add water!), cutting it into pieces, frying the squares, and showering them with powdered sugar, Choi takes exactly one bite, and slyly throws the rest in the garbage can right behind him. “It’s not quite like there,” Favreau says. While fumbling for the right words to say, Choi returns to the stove for a minute and then whips around with a big grin on his face. “I can tell they’re a year old,” he says bursting into laughter along with his friend. “I didn’t want to say it on camera, but fuck it, this whole thing isn’t about lying.”

Also funny that Favreau has to convince Gwyneth Paltrow that she was in Spiderman Homecoming.

Pepper Pot soup looked interesting. Watched a bit of the Avengers one. I will get into this more.

Watched them all last week. Very good. Cool to see how serious Favreau takes it, and yes the beignet moment was funny.
