Got this at the library yesterday.
The National are currently the most consistently great American rock band.

oh my bad. I got the impression that you were a percussionist and might appreciate the video.
It won't happen again.

 I just noticed this.

I forgot about your tendency to go full-on redass when presented with a dissenting opinion. It's music - people are going to have visceral reactions and strong opinions.

And I'm no percussionist. Im barely a drummer. More like a drum enthusiast.

I guess we also have 'dissenting opinions" on what defines going "full-on redass".

Edit: I said the word "have" twice when I only meant to say it once.

Probably. You don't really demonstrate much self-awareness.

I mean, look no further than your own thread.

So true. This is in the conversation for the worst rock song of all time:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3973tfsllqw

Why is Page playing a double-neck guitar when he could have been just as effective with two fucking strings?

I don't disagree. Page did not adjust well to the 80s.

It's hard to mistake who he is with the double neck. For that reason, he used it.

The outfit he's wearing goes back to one of the Oakland shows in '77.

Wow.
Probably the saddest Dinosaur Jr record.

Outta Hand and Mind Glow are gut punches.
One of my favorite bands that I hated when I first heard them....

I remember the first time I heard Dinosaur Jr. I think they were just Dinosaur at the time. Anyway, the song was "Freak Scene" and I was just blown away. They played with the power of a hardcore band but with emotion that no hardcore band could even approach.

Started the morning with Master of Puppets and Dirt back to back...it's an easy office day today...my trainee is on vacation and I'm handling customer email. Just trying to decide what I'm switching to after this.

I don't listen to music nearly as much as I used to and this is my first contribution to this thread.

I have been listening to The National's Sleep Well Beast over the last couple weeks and it is excellent. I bought it when it was released a couple years ago but never really listened to it. Guess I'll wait a couple more years to listen to their newest album.

I can never get into the National past Alligator and about half of Boxer. Maybe I'm too loyal to Tindersticks as my Dark Brooding Gin-Soaked Singer band. But the opener and closer off Alligator are the best two National songs by a country mile.
