Man, the Celtics just played one hell of a 3rd quarter. Defense has been great. They are running. It's fun to watch how much the Celtics want this.

Kobe is gonna have to take over. But the Celtics know that. They can double and triple him cuz nobody else on the Lakers can do shit right now.

Celebrity Watch.

Donald Sutherland - Looks dead.

Stalone - Looks weird and very steroidy.

Its obvious by his comments Phil hates Odom. I wouldnt be surprised if he's dealt this offseason.

Great game headed into the 4th.

Who would have thought going into the 4th Q that Pierce would have 2 points and the Celtics would actually be leading . . .

Yeah but you know Thibodeau, Im sure he would be a terrible coach. It's not like he has good defensive schemes or anything. I agree with all the teams decisions that he didnt even deserve an interview.

Kobe did what he had to do. I still don't understand why Doc stopped trapping him. If I'm a coach he is the last guy I want taking a shot with the game on the line. It would be nice to see Odom and Gasol show up for this series.

Lose-Lose situation, although they could have maybe defended him better. Trapping often led to open shots for Sasha, like that three with a couple minutes left, although that was a stupid unnecessary trap at midcourt.

Both teams played awful, hopefully Game 4 is better. I like how Doc called out Phil in his postgame comments saying the more aggressive team got to the line more, and thats how it should be. Its funny that the HOF Coach that notoriously always get the calls come off as excuse-filled and whiny, and the coach who everyone pretty much agrees is terrible and hasnt had prolonged success comes off as classy and says his team just needs to step it up. I like that.

I guess. When the other coach is classy about it like Doc it just comes off as whiny, like Doc said.

Beardown --- This is an excerpt from Bill Simmons on Pierce. Admittedly he is a Boston homer, but still facts are facts and the two examples he gives are true. Just some background on Pierce's toughness

Quote:
Q: What was the funniest part of the game?

A: Probably the way the L.A. fans reacted to Paul Pierce, booing him for four quarters, shouting "faker!" at him and even carrying signs like, "Hey, Pierce, this is the Finals. Not the Oscars!" I'm starting to wonder if KneeGate is going to follow him for the rest of his career. Before it does, allow me to make two points in his defense since I have followed him for 10 years:

1. Before the 2000-01 season, Pierce was stabbed 11 times at a Boston nightclub, suffered a collapsed lung and nearly bled to death while staggering to the hospital. Less than two weeks later, he played in Boston's first exhibition game. If the same thing had happened to Vince Carter, he would still be on the injured list seven years later.

2. During the 2002-03 season, Pierce got slammed face-first to the floor by Amare Stoudemire, breaking his two front teeth. Thirty minutes later, he was back playing with a mouthpiece. The following day, he underwent emergency dental surgery for seven hours. The day after that, he played against Portland with a mouthpiece and ended up hitting the game-winner.

In my opinion, he's not only one of the toughest Celtics ever, he's one of the toughest Boston athletes ever. Not counting Tankapalooza 2007 (when the team shelved Pierce with a knee injury for half the season even when he probably could have played), Pierce missed just 21 games in nine seasons and played through a variety of injuries and ailments for mostly horrendous teams. So for anyone to insinuate that he is either (A) weak or (B) someone who would milk an injury, is just insane. On top of that, for the Lakers' fans to have the gall to question any other NBA star's character is three times as insane. In retrospect, Pierce's only mistake was not diffusing the Lakers fans before Game 3 by settling with his right knee out of court and buying it a $4 million diamond ring.

Gametime for Game 4 now. Alot of eyes are gonna be on KG, playing poorly in the last two and a half games. He's gonna need to play big tonight, and not be scared to bang bodies in the paint. If he comes out shooting those 20 footers again, the C's will be in trouble.

Rondo wouldnt get a shot for his ankle because he doesnt like needles. I always find this excuse hilarious. Is there anybody that likes needles? Im guessing even heroin addicts dont LIKE needles. Sometimes they are just necessary for you to get what you need, whether it be antidotes or heroin.

So Kobe is allowed to mug KG, and then when Pierce steals it from Kobe cleanly, hes allowed to mug Pierce too to get the ball back? You would think given all the surrounding hoopla the refs would try to make a more concentrated effort on looking impartial.

Why are they saying a flash flood warning is in effect until Wenesday? We're gonna have 6 straight days of rain.

They start by saying that and then they break down the counties and say until Friday. I don't get that.

LA is outplaying Boston by alot right now, but so far this is by far the most unfairly officiated game of the series. LA can do whatever they want and anytime a Boston player dares touch them they get called. Meanwhile Ariza and Kobe are mugging Boston players nonstop off the ball and sometimes even on it and nothing is called. Im very surprised at the discrepency given the allegations in the news right now.

Refs aren't making Boston turn it over. Refs aren't missing those shots for Boston.

Kobe didn't have to do anything this half. It's not the refs fault.

I dont know what game you are watching if you think this has been even close to evenly called. I already prefaced it by saying LA is outplaying Boston by alot. They should have a double digit lead. But the discrepency by what LA is getting away with and Boston is ridiculous. I dont know how anyone watching the game could argue otherwise. Breen even hinted at it, and he's about as nuetral-non controversial as an announcer is gonna get.

The black Tom Cruise.

I really like Van Gundy, but I'll give his dumbass at least 50 people funnier then Kevin James.

Tafoya does wear a ton of make-up, but I'd still hit it. Saw Rachel Nichols on GMA the other day, god she looked awful, but I'd still hit it.

They missed a couple. Sure.

Hey, did Van Gundy ask if there was anybody funnier than Kevin James?

That fat fuck isn't funny. I just saw Chuck and Larry. He sucked. He also sucked in Hitch.

Wow. That Magic/Bird commercial was the most disturbing thing I've seen in a while.

How many takes do you think it took those two dummies to read that? Good Lord was that a scary delievery by both of them.

Stern has ridiculed and given his scorn to the city of Seattle and state of Washington all year because we didn't approve paying ALL 500 MILLION DOLLARS for a new arena. Yet his crooked refs are getting tough questions for a few days and he doesn't like it? Who ya crappin David, times have passed you by bitch.

I really like and have admired David Stern for years, but like I already said, if you are from Seattle, by all means hate his guts. Noone can blame you. What an awful, piss-poor stance he has taken on that. Inexcusable to say the least.

Ya know, I hear Phil and Doc give their half time speeches. It really shows how simple it is to coach. This is what they said.

Doc - You guys have to make plays. I mean, you have to make plays.

Phil - What you need to do is win this quarter. You have to win this quarter.

My God. These guys are great. I'm motivated.

Even when they get Doc it the huddle all he says is "You guys need to play." "You guys need to make shots". "Relax. Play. Make shots."

It really shows how simple this shit is.
