And to think they passed on Michael Porter Jr because of injury concerns. Might come back to bite them in the butt.

Porter has yet to even step on a court.

And when the season starts he will have only participated in 44 fewer games as an NBA player than Wendell Carter. After 1 season Carter is almost as much of an unknown as Porter Jr.

True. But Carters injuries are way less concerning that that of Porter.

There are a lot of reasons to throw stones at the Bulls right now, but passing on Porter is not one of them.

Now obviously if he proves to be a good pro that can stay healthy then that changes, but as of now I will take my chances with passing on him.

Porter Jr has a chance to be the potential to be a star. Don't think Carter does.

He also has a chance to be a bust. I don't think Carter has that chance. Carter will be a player in the NBA

If he doesn't play he will. Carter has to find a position. He ain't a Center.

He is a center. That's where he's gonna be starting next season.

This comment alone speaks more about the ineptitude of the Bulls than it does his aptitude as a Center.

In surprising news...

Michael Porter Jr. suffered a left knee sprain during a scrimmage; "unlikely" to play in Vegas Summer League, per msinger/Twitter

Yes yes, that is clearly what I am saying...he should retire....

He has back issues. He has had hip issues. He now has knee issues.

Clearly he is injury prone. The Bulls were wise for passing on him.

Porter can prove me wrong ....but he has to be able to actually get on a court for an extended period of time. So far he is unable to do that.

A Knee Sprain isn't a knee issue. Wendell Carter is on his 2nd Surgery since joining the Bulls. You can say he is "injury prone" also. I'm not. Guys get hurt playing sports. It happens.

For me it is only an issue if you look up 5 years from now and he has .missed a ton of games.

A knee sprain isn't anything to be overly concerned with.

Teams passed on Embiid using the same misguided logic and they're looking pretty stupid for doing so right now.

Draft the guy that is clearly more talented and hope for the best.

I say this as a person that likes Carter by the way. He just doesn't really have that high of a ceiling.

Particularly if they are going to continue to play him at Center.

For normal people you are correct a knee sprain is nothing to be concerned about. But for a guy with his injury history it is a reason for concern. The dude is brittle. It is always going to be something. Just the way it goes for some guys.

A knee sprain regardless of a person's history is not that big of a deal. Probably could go if they needed him to.

For what it's worth everyone surrounding the Nuggets have been raving about him.

The Bulls as are many others will live to regret their decision.

So how many games you think he plays this season for the Nuggets?

At least 60.

Let me ask you this. Was the pass on Embiid by Minnesota and Milwaukee the correct decision?

 60 games. No way.

I am not sure why you keep bringing up Embiid. He really does not impact anything to do with Porter. Sure Embiid had injury issues coming into the draft, but nothing like Porter. How many games did Embiid play in college compared to Porter?

Minn and Milw both regret the decision to pass on Embiid because of how bad their picks that year were...Wiggins and Parker are both brutal.

People on this very board proclaimed Embiid to be a bust and they also "doubted" whether he would ever play in an NBA game. When I fought those many battles regarding his importance I don't quite recall you ever joining in to dispute their claims.

Of course he isn't relevant to you because he counters the narrative. Embiid had injury issues in college and missed his first 2 seasons in the NBA. He is very much relevant.

The point is that it is too early to predict what Porter's injury issues will be. Guys have come back from back injuries to be productive NBA players.

The fact remains that he is scheduled to suit up this season when MANY on here predicted that he wouldn't. That's already a win and the guy the Bulls drafted has already missed nearly half of his games as an NBA player. He hasn't exactly been injury free and I have doubts as to whether he will be ready to go on Opening night

Carter Jr is fine if you are competing for a playoff spot. Carter Jr is not fine if you want to compete for a Championship. Say what you will about the Nets. Personally, I think they are on a road to nowhere, but they are throwing the dice looking to win. The Bulls...not so much. They're pussies and have no inclination for risk. Dime a dozen picks is NOT what they should be investing in. I'd have taken Porter and I would have taken Reddish. Call me stupid but what exactly is the downside? Won't win a championship? Not going to anyway with these 2 actual picks.

Very few NBA players play 82 games these days anyway. There may be games where he is being rested for "load management". Probably won't even be hurt.

There is a likelihood that Carter won't be available for the start of the season with the injury he has.

Well that’s ridiculous, of course. You don’t win championships by whiffing on top 10 picks.

Whiffing on picks is still a possibility with Carter. If he turns out to be Al Horford then fine. Don't think he will personally. You win with stars. Porter can be that. Carter can't.

From KC Johnson in a Trib article
Quote:
However, league sources said Dunn is available for the right price. In fact, the Bulls, sources said, have had discussions with the Grizzlies regarding a sign-and-trade for Justin Holiday. If that move materialized, it would not only alleviate the point guard logjam, it would add a veteran wing shooter.

Big secret. The hilarious part is the "right" price.

After reading about Satoransky I'm starting to get interested in the upcoming Bulls season. Seems like they made a couple of solid signings for a young team ready to take the next step (make the play-offs as a low seed). They're certainly not ready to compete for a championship but they should be competitive and fun to watch (finally).

Still think he is better suited for a backup role from 1-3. Even if he is he is still a much better option than what they trotted out last season. The Bulls bench should be much improved this year. Their starting 5 when healthy wasn't all that bad last year but once they brought in the D-League caliber guys off the bench it was a wrap.

I'm not sure how much better the bench will be, but they are trying to have more flexibility with the roster.

I don't expect much from White this season and especially early on. T.Young is the only bench player they have who has a track record...Archie will get backup PG time so maybe 7 players they trust.

Players like Hutchinson and Valentin are huge question marks being both unproven and injured, and the rest are lower end players.

Arch isn't going to play much as a 3rd string PG. If its Dunn or Satoransky its still a huge upgrade at the backup PG slot. Young is a huge upgrade too. I doubt if we see a lot of the Blakeneys, Harrisons, and Arch's this season and thats fine by me.

They go about 8-9 deep now which isn't all that bad.

Is Arch going to be the 3rd string PG? I think he can beat out Dunn for the backup PG spot. It's at least a training camp, early season battle.

I do think Young will provide steady minutes off the bench. He will help up-front off the bench. They need Hutchinson and/or Valentin to become good players off the bench else they will be very limited.

Right now, this is probably a 6 man rotation (even though they are going to play 9 guys probably most nights) of players who have some reliability. Of course, the backup PG spot will be a 7th player, but this looks pretty alarming too me given the lack of health from the starting unit.
