There have been so many first round busts for the Chicago Bears, it's frightening! With Cedric Benson now in the team picture with Curtis Enis, Rashaan Salaam & Stan Thomas among the absolute worst draft picks in franchise history, I couldn't have been more disappointed in Cade McNown. The quarterback from UCLA was supposed to have a cannon for an arm and was supposed to be ready to make the next step. Instead, his attitude reminded me of another first round flop, Ryan Leaf, who wasn't nearly as prepared as we thought. He was a first class jerk! If you are wondering why the Bears haven't been able to find a franchise QB, McNown is a definite example.

I go with Benson just because he was drafted the highest, and hence paid the most. He acted weird at the draft - and has done nothing to engraciate himself to his own teammates, even stating "they're my teammates, they don't have to be my friend".

There's plenty of ditch digger jobs down in Mexico City for ass nuggets like Cedric Benson.

Well, fans, I don't know if you should be surprised by this. Cedric Benson went completely unclaimed by every single team. If he does get a look from some team when training camp opens, I won't be shocked if he (A) gets suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell & (B) he doesn't play another single game ever again.

Maybe Curtis Enis could get him a job installing garage doors too!

Mirer hands down because it not only hurt the team in the short run with how bad he was but screwed them in the long run with the picks and potential they traded for his worthless ass. Double whammy decision there.

I gotta go McNown too... but I also am rethinking putting Grossman on the list. He was a late first rounder. He didn't have a lot of weapons and barely any running game (read Cedric Benson). He actually played decently for a stretch of games.

Gotta be McNown. I mean Rex at least was part of a superbowl run. Benson's up there, but even he had a 100 yard game. McNown was a suckfest from beginning to end, on top of being a prick. Benson's more of the underachieving headcase who couldn't keep his shit together.

either way it's an RB or a QB...two of the most important positions on a football team. not great.

I have to say mcnown and Enis - and I'm a Penn State grad. I know that everyone is extra hot right now about Benson, but he at least contributed a bit. He had some valuable runs in the playoffs and during the home stretch of the 06 season.
McNown did nothing, and Enis was CRAZY!! Neither of them should have been drafted so high.

Got to go with Cade. I understand the Rick Mirer side and Mirer was the reason Cade was picked in 99.

Cade was the reason the Bears dumped Erik Kramer. Cade was the reason they had to go with the rotating 3 QB system when he was a rookie. He was so bad (1-7 as a starter) that they cut bait after his second season. He was so bad that he was basically given away to the Dolphins. (McNown + 7 th round pick for 6th rounder)

What about Michael Haynes, picked the same draft as Rex?

I'd have to go with McNown, though.

Kramer was injured and they had nobody else. It was also a very weak QB class. I think Jake Plummer may have been the best one that year. However, no way Mirer was worth a first rd pick. Wanne sucks at evaluating talent and this was a bad move. If you look at the drafts from his years as coach it makes one cringe.

I don't know if I'd consider Mirer a bust in the traditional sense of the word. I never expected much from him.
