I could fix you in less than seven minutes and it wouldn't even require the use of frozen peas on your nutsack.

Can you show me how to swing a club? I can't swing after 20 years of not playing + being totally unathletic.

had a great time over the weekend playing 5 rounds in a 5 days at Lawsonia. Started out on my birthday, drove up there in the morning and was on the course by 1. The lesson I had a month prior really paid off as I figured it all out that day and had the best round of my entire life by far. Continued to drive the ball fantastic and hit 9/13 fairways with only 1 bad miss in the other 5, a topped shot. Hit all my irons crisp with no signs of shanks. Putted great, not a single 3 putt (compared to last year's first round of the year on Lawsonia when I had 7). Made just about every putt I took inside 8 feet.

Started the round on hole 3 to get ahead of a couple groups. Playing very steady I finished the 7 holes on the front at 2 over, all pars and a couple bogeys. #10 stated with an up and down for par on a very long par 3. #11 is a short par 5 from my tees, only 430 and I got there in 2 with my best drive of the year followed by my best 3 hybrid of the year. Sunk the 15 foot putt for an eagle. Next hole was a long par 3 and I put a 4 iron to 2 feet for a tap in birdie. Eagle-birdie on consecutive holes and now I'm thinking this could be a special day. Parred the next hole, the toughest on the course. Leaked oil with 3 bogyes in the next 4 holes. Then played 18, 1 and 2 even with 3 GIRs to finish 38-36-74!

Best round of my life!!! I don't think I've even broken 80 in a couple years let alone getting that low. My previous low score this year was 86. Never had a near perfect round like that before. I've had stretches where I was 1 over through 7 holes and stuff like that, but then I always matched that up with a few holes wehre I was 8-10 over combined.

The next day I played with the wife and shot a 84 on the same course.

Next day I played the other course on the property and should've broken 80 again, but choked it away on #18 with a double bogey for an 80.

Next day back to the Links course and back to reality as I started shanking ball again and shot a 88.

5th day in a row decided to play and played great on the front with a 38, but then lost it on the back with a 46 and several shanks and OB drives.

A month ago I was just hoping to be able to break 90 again. Never would've dreamed the lesson would fix me to the point where a month later I would go 74-84-80-88-85 over a 5 day run. Hopefully the shanks that came back were just a result of too much golf as opposed to me losing the swing again.

Nice job shakes. You sounded so close to quitting so that’s a great way to come back. I emailed up there to find out about ride along policy but haven’t heard back yet. Hope to get up there late summer/early fall.

I forgot to ask, but I did see a few people riding in carts as spectators over the weekend. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Once they find out I know you I’m positive it won’t be a problem at all, either that or I’ll be forced to pay full greens fees for her.

Edit- head pro just wrote back and said she is welcome to ride.

Once they find out you know shakes, they are likely to ban you from the course.

Going out tomorrow with the old man. Probably will be the last round before the Jorr Invitational unless I can squeeze in 9 holes next Saturday. Not going to worry about the score at all, and just focus on hitting good, solid shots. Its time to turn this thing around.

With all the rain we've had up here our range has been closed a lot this season. I'd been thinking a bit about what's been causing my poor play and before playing I was able to hit about 20 balls or so and tried doing something a bit different, essentially flattening my swing. It really helped eliminate the severe right to left shot and hit the ball much more solidly. Shot 74 with a double bogey and two missed birdie putts inside 8 ft. I did make four others so that helped. Put it to one foot on the par three 17th and 18 inches on 18.

I dunked one in the water on the par 5 15th with this Ping Crossover club I've been carrying. It's like a 3 iron and shaped like an iron but it has a real thick sole like a hybrid. Anyway I'd had mixed results with it over the past few seasons and after I hit that shot with it I had enough. I know, don't blame the club. Probably some truth to that but I can't hit hybrids or woods off the ground with any consistency. I drove down to the PGA Superstore in Vernon Hills and they happened to have a used Titleist T-MB 3 iron that matches my 4 iron I love so much. They have me $30 for my club and they were charging 89.99 for theirs. Great deal. The new version goes for $275 brand new which is crazy. I feel like I am set for the back half of the season

Was one over going into 15 yesterday. Took a bogey and then proceeded to hit the next drive OB. Made double. Parred 17 and the 18 happened. Teed off with a 2 iron that hit a tree dead nuts and bounced back even with the tee to the right. Next shot I tried to punch back near the fairway and clipped a branch again. This time I couldn't find the ball so another penalty stroke and I'm still in trouble. Another poor punch left me with 215 to the hole out of the rough. Somehow managed to get hole high on the fringe with a really fast downhill putt. Took me three from there. Anyway that's how you blow up a nce round of golf in my world. An 8 on the last hole.

Bring them all to the outing on Sunday. We'll have six golfers and over a hundred clubs on the Tee Box. Should be awesome!

MX-300s just sold on eBay. The R7 TPs should be here by Saturday, but I'll be playing my Mizunos from the last few years on Sunday.

After some really dreadful rounds (105+), I think I may have figured something out. I felt all out of whack, so I shortened my backswing as I felt myself going way over parallel. Wasn't perfect, but definitely better than the last few times out.

Played with my wife's cousin (He's 12) on Saturday at a 9 hole executive course. For his first time out, he hits the ball pretty well. Needs to chip and putt, but I told him that will come with feel. Hits his driver 130 and his 'mid iron' about 90-100 when he gets into them. He had a blast and nearly parred his last hole (driver, chipped to about 5', but missed the putt unfortunately). He had fun and got a little frustrated with a few bad shots and whiffs, but kept his cool and moved on to the next shot. He can't wait to get out again, and I'll be more than happy to take him soon!

I didn't hit either of the first two greens, but then started to hit the ball better. Parred a 182 yard par 3 with a 5 iron and two putts, drove a 286 yard par 4, two putted for birdie, bogeyed the next two, but then hit the last two greens with a 7 and 8 iron respectively. No three putts, no double bogeys, finished +3. My distances were a little off as I wasn't hitting the ball quite as crisp as I was earlier in the year, but its better than slicing the driver two fairways over and shanking my irons.

Hoping to provide the group some better shots at this year's JOrr invitaional. In 2015 when I played with RPB I was the best player in our group. Since I've been about the worst....the worst Jerry!

Jeez...at least my bad shots aren't this bad :( :(
Quote:
A 6-year-old Utah girl died on Monday after she was accidentally struck in the back of the head by her father’s errant tee shot.

Aria Hill was sitting in a parked cart on the cart path about 20 yards to the left of her father at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course in Orem, Utah, on Monday morning when he went to the tee box to tee off. Her father’s drive went off course and struck her in the back of the head at the base of her skull, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. She died later that night after being transported to the Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

“[It was] a complete, fluke accident,” Hill’s uncle, David Smith, said via KUTV. “You couldn’t repeat it if you tried. She just happened to be in the exact wrong place, just directly across from him, when it happened.”

Lt. Trent Colledge of the Orem Police Department said they are not considering criminal charges in the incident. Instead, they are treating it as a “horrible accident.”

“It’s an extremely tragic accident,” Colledge said, via the Salt Lake Tribune. “I can’t imagine what that father is going through.”

The family has since set up a GoFundMe page to help offset costs of the funeral for Hill, who the family said always “brought contagious joy and light to every room or place she entered.”

“Aria was full of joy and compassion,” Smith said, via USA Today. “She loved her parents and was a proud 'sissy' to her younger twin brothers. She loved fully, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

“This tragic accident has brought unimaginable difficulty, yet we’re grateful for the overwhelming support our family has received.”

Was just about to post this. My clever caption was going to be, "Damn I thought I had problems with the shanks"

Read that story again. "20 yards to the left". If you are standing at the tee box, your left would be over your left shoulder, ahead of the tee box.

I don't think that is what it means. It says she was simply 20 yds to the left of her father. I don't think that was meaning from standing at the tee box....but 20 yds to the left of the box.

Didn't want to leave my clubs in a hot trunk all day. Really wish I brought them up to the office so I could get a little short game practice in tonight at Mt. Prospect.

Pizza delivery and a memorial mass tomorrow, so I likely won't have any time to play/practice before the big outing Sunday. I'm gonna try to get to the course at 11-11:30 to get some short game practice in before the range opens up to us.
