I feel like you could put the entire Chili Peppers catalog on this list. Especially this, and Scar Tissue.

Which is ironic because Higher Ground is the best remake of any song .

If they called it a day after "Blood Sugar Sex Magic," they would be remembered as a great band. Everything since then sounds the same to me.

That’s fair .

This is a good one. As a standalone song, very overrated.

I like the song. It was important. The video was cool. But it's really just a cocked up version of "More Than A Feeling".

Yes, yes, yes, no.

I get the distinction, but "Smells Like Teen Spirit," through no fault of it's own, is commonly lauded as some seismic shift in pop culture and rock music, a Very Important Rock Moment. It ain't no "Anarchy in the U.K."

It was, though. Not saying that's a good thing, but it was.

And true. Still a decent band afterwards, but they lost some band members and that changed things.

I get the distinction. IMO Smells Like Teen Spirit is both of those things. I know my opinion is the minority in this discussion and I clearly understand the songs place in music history. I just think it is a crap song.

Good choice. I can probably name at least 50 better Van Morrison songs off the top of my head.

I can't believe I'm typing this, but "More Than a Feeling" is actually kind of an awesome song. So is "Don't Look Back," which was used to great effect in season 2 of Cobra Kai, possibly the best television show in the history of television shows.

That song was UUUGE back in the day. I didn't realize how much it rocked until much later.

American pie and Hotel California are outstanding nominations. I would’ve said American pie if not taken. I always hated imagine too.

I like good riddance by Green Day and as always anything by Nirvana sucks

"Imagine" and "Satisfaction" are outstanding nominations. Both of those songs suck.

Throw "Hey Jude," "Let It Be," and "Yesterday" in there as well.

Yea, not in the spirit of the thread to choose the most overrated song. Nonetheless, the songs are....OVER RATED

All that says is that Flea and Anthony Kedis are mediocre songwriters.

That's generous. They're fucking awful lyricists, like shout-"THESE ARE FUCKING AWFUL LYRICS"-while-hearing-"Dani California"-on-the-radio bad.

"With or Without You" - U2

Ehh, hard to argue that one. "The Unforgettable Fire" and "Where The Streets Have No Name" were bigger statements in terms of embracing Eno sensibilities and are more impressive pieces of songwriting. "With or Without You" is a fine little I-V-vi-IV song but not amazing the way "Streets" is.

Most Beatles songs after Sgt. Pepper are kinda lame, really.
