setting the bar high

I actually set it at SB but I know some fatties don't have the ups to fosbury flop over that bar like I do.

I'm optimistic, but that schedule combined with a couple injuries and they don't win 8.

Last year was their shot. This year 9 wins will be a good season.

Doesn't this pretty much HAVE to be the Superbowl year for the Bears?

Well this thread will be significantly more interesting once FavreFan finds it.

I’m close to ageeing with this.. would love to see the expectation be a Super Bowl tho if Mitch can take a big step forward, the defense doesn’t fall too far under new coaching, and injuries aren’t an issue.

I’m basically at the point with the talent the team has where they should be contenders now every year for the next few years -and longer if Mitch is the real thing.

With the worst QB in the division and one of the worst in the NFC, that seems more than high.

A good rover/spy on him and I doubt he'll make it past week 8.

I’m not this down on Mitch. He’s not awful. If he takes another step forward the Bears will be where most Bear fans think they are. I’m just of the opinion that’s a pretty huge if.

If he takes a step forward, he'll be average.

The spy will get concussed by a ball Mitch aimed 40 more yards down the field.

And the Bears roster is good enough to win with that.

Nagy definitely props up his production but I think he’s around average now. Maybe slightly below last year.

Last year the Bears roster was. Every season is a new thing. Let’s see how regression and the loss of Fangio hits.

And they went 12-4 and hosted a playoff game after being a pushover for the better part of 5 years.

After watching Nagy get outcoached by Jim Schwartz for most of the playoff game last year, I think you have to hope that he picks up his game.

Correct. The history of “worst to first” teams and the year afterwards should concern you. Historically teams like that take a step back the following year.

Everyone except the meatiest meatball knew - once we knew the team was legit - that if anything would hold them back it would be the offense.

Mitch*

The rest of the offense is good. If Mitch plays like a top 12ish QB they will be an excellent team. I have my doubts he can do that consistently.

Could have more weapons. Allen Robinson was a reclamation project and Cohen was a surprise. No other player of note.

He wasn’t a reclamation project. Allen Robinson is a very good WR. If he played with a top QB he would have an excellent career production wise so far. Miller and Gabriel are solid with Miller having a chance to be very good. Burton is above average and so is the Oline and running game.

He was out for the year the season before. His prior level of play wasn't necessarily guaranteed. Solid doesn't cut it. You need stars

That’s wrong. He was coming off an ACL tear, not an Achilles. There was little to no risk, many suitors, and a good sized contract waiting for him. You’re simply wrong on Robinson.

And you don’t need a star. If you have good players all over the field and a good QB you’re gonna have a very good offense.
