78 with two doubles yesterday. Back at it early today. Frustrating because I am so close to putting it all together. There are a number of holes on the courses I play that favor a fade or left to right ball and I don't have that shot off the tee. Trying to work on a cut punch shot with a long iron or a sawed off 3 wood that stays low and doesn't move much but not quite there with either shot yet. Yet another pair of FootJoy DNA shoes that couldn't hold up to my golf so the pro gave me the paperwork to send them in for hopefully another free warrantied pair. Great shoes but it seems like after about 50-60 rounds they give out. Big man walking 7000 yd courses and I have an un orthodox gait and put a lot of torque on the shoes during the swing. It has all equaled last two pairs soles separating from the shoe.

36 on the front yesterday. Kept it together at +1 until #13. Had a four hole stretch of double, bogey, double, double. Parred last two for a 44 on the back. Tried incorporating a punch cut swing and while it worked on the range, it seemed to mess up my rhythm and gave me a brief case of the blocks/ shanks. Two blocks lead to two lost balls and two shanks on a par three lead to a double. Very frustrating but getting closer to a solution.

Golf league last night. Game came back around after the 93 on Saturday. Was +1 through 6 and then I completely lost my swing on #7. felt the club moving in my hand on my back swing. Topped the drive and duffed it all the way to the hole for a triple bogey. Scrambled my way to 2 bogeys on 8 and 9 to finish with a 41. Overall, happy with the way I played. just need to avoid that loss of my swing mid round which unfortunately is something that happens nearly ever round at some point.

Heading up to Green Lake tomorrow. 3:30 tee time and then playing Saturday afternoon. Wife drives up Saturday afternoon and we'll play together Sunday morning. All on the Links course at Lawsonia. Looking forward to getting away, even for a short weekend. Biggest trial of my life coming up in a couple weeks so this will be my last bit of fun for a while.

Hit some balls last night and playing the shorter, easier course tomorrow for a change of pace. Think I have a better grasp on a couple of go to shots off the tee that can keep me in the fairway on tight holes. I’m at 30 rounds for the year, so halfway to my goal. Not sure I can hit 60 this year but I’ll try. I hope the 2nd half goes a bit better than the first. Hitting the ball just ok and not scoring like I know I can. Would be mice to break par a few more times this year but that is pretty tough. Hope some of you guys are getting out this weekend, looks nice.

I've been watching a fair amount of the LPGA lately. I really think it has helped my swing. Seriously.

I really miss Hank Haney's show on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio. The channel is nothing but cheerleaders without him.

Played much better this weekend. No big blowup holes and felt like I putted and chipped very well. 73 on the short course Saturday with 4 birdies and 72 yesterday from one of my regular tracks. Three birdies and got up and down 7 of 8 times to save par. Shot one under on the back and my final putt of the day was a birdie putt from 12 feet. Was looking good and then did the old violent lip out and came back to me so it would have been so nice to make that. Had 8 guys playing a money game and I took home $75 so it was a good day overall. Hopefully things are turning around after a frustrating few weeks.

Great weekend of golf up in Wisconsin. Played well for the most part. Lost my draw on my driver, but figured out a mistake I was making and corrected it last day. Didn't putt great, but hit my irons really well all weekend. Played 3 round on the Links and scored 84-80-84. Highlights were birdying #9 (par 5) 3 days in a row and getting the first birdie of my life on #10, a very long par 3 when I rolled in a 40-50 foot putt. Game has really settled down in the past couple months. Going to be interesting to see what my handicap is at the next revision. I had it down to single digits a couple years ago and since then its been in a shank induced free fall. Got as high as 15 last year. Was at 13.5 to start the year and got it down to 12.5 on July 1. I wouldn't be surprised if I shave another digit off it this time around.

The benefit of being so bad for so long is the number of strokes I get in the golf league. Even though I'm playing well now, I'm still getting a ton of strokes based on my overall season results. It's already starting to show benefits as we placed 2nd out of 16 last week. 3 week playoffs start this week.

3 week playoffs started last night in golf league. Last night's format was Pinehurst Alternate Shot which means both people tee off and then you pick the best ball and alternate shot from there. Must use at least 2 tee shots from each person. We ended up +3 gross. I think we did pretty good. Just had a sloppy 3 hole stretch after birdying the first hole, went 4 over during the next 3 holes, but then settled down and parred the final 5. A couple chips that went too far and a couple missed 3 foot putts kept us from doing really well.

Finished -3 net with the 6 strokes we were getting. Guys we played with were getting 11 and we barely beat them. Standings come out later today, but i would expect us to be near the top.

Got my index revision today, down to an 11.8. Was 13.5 two months ago.

Those formats are a good time. I never played any form of competitive golf until the Golf Channel local am tour a few years back had a Ryder Cup style dealio to wrap up the season.

Got out to Shepherds Crook this afternoon. Course is in nice shape and they have to have some of the fastest greens in the Chicagoland area. Hit the ball solid. Three 3 putts and two lost balls accounted for +5 so to come away with a 76 ( par 71) wasn't too bad.

We finished T3 in round one of the playoffs. We're 5 strokes off the lead. Next week is best ball and then final week is a scramble. The team at the top has one really good player (probably a 5) and one guy who is terrible (probably a 20). I think the scramble format is going to be an issue for them with the high capper so hopefully we can make up some strokes.

Watch out - donspiracy is a high handicapper who excels in the scramble format.

Had a nice 77 today after starting bogey-double-bogey and had three lip-outs on the back. Hit my irons solid, so I'm happy about that. Hope to keep the momentum going.

81 at Hilldale today. Played with a Dutch diplomat and his wife. I have experience with a Dodge Diplomat, but that didn't help me here. Of course, I made sure to discuss diplomatic immunity and whether he has a hot assistant like the guy in Lethal Weapon 2.

Played the R7 TP irons on the course for the first time. Cult status of these irons is warranted. Swapped out one set of 2006 irons for another set of 2006 irons. Picked up about a 1/2 to a full club in distance over my previous irons, even though the lofts are 1-2° weaker (47° pitching wedge is GLORIOUS). It's really has more to do with the shaft - 10 grams heavier and much more tip-stiff than previous irons. Love the turf interaction.

OG 588 47/53/60° wedges in the bag. Nothing feels better. Wedge yips from last year? GONE.

Haven't played a full round in almost three weeks. Last time I touched the clubs was the Jorr Invitational. Sunrise tee time @River Oaks on Saturday, and playing somewhere just south of Crown Point, IN on our way to a bachelor party in the AM of the 24th. Hoping the break will let me go into the last third of the golf season relaxed and fresh, while tempering my frustration at poor shots.

Had a moment of clarity on the practice green last night. I think I had become too process oriented. Make-the-putt mindset sounds simple enough, but I really got away from it. We'll see.

Day 2 of our golf league playoffs was scramble format. 2 days ago and still don't know the standings :(

We did pretty good though. Finsihed -2 with 3 birdies and 1 bogey, -5 net with our 3 strokes we were getting. They bogey was really disappointing and could be the score that ends up costing us the championship. Par 5 and we are pin high 15 feet right of the green in 2. To come out of that with a par would've been very disappointing, but to end up with a bogey was pretty devastating. We also missed several birdie putts on other holes. Tee to green we were fantastic. Probably didn't have a birdie putt outside of 10 feet all day. My highlight was on #9, hit a really nice draw off the tee on a hole with all OB just right of the fairway, showed great confidence starting the ball down the right side of the hole. That put us 140 out and I put a 6 iron 3 feet past the cup. Partner sunk the putt for our birdie.

We played with a team that was 3 strokes ahead of us and we beat them pretty good. Passed them for sure, but don't know how we did in relation to the team that was in first. One team that was tied with us finished -7 net so at best we are in second place going into the best ball finale next week.

Work comp golf outing today at Marriot Lincolnshire, should be a 6 hour shit show.

Then heading up to Green lake for one of my last weekend's up there. Supposed to play in a member's Ryder Cup event Saturday and Sunday, but I'm guessing they don't get enough people signed up and it gets cancelled. If it does I'll just play a bunch of solo golf up there instead.

At the risk of pissing off Furious for posting while on vacation I have to say the SC north Myrtle greens are phenomenal.

You can always post about golf and you know that.

Unfortunately the Ryder Cup event got cancelled, but had myself another special round at Lawsonia. 37-37-74. Ties my season and career best. 2 boges and a birdie on each side. My iron play is getting ridiculous. Hit 14/18 greens. 9/13 fairways with the driver. 34 putts was the only negative, had a lot of trouble figuring out the speed till I got to the back. Highlight was a 7 iron from 135 that I rolled up to 3 inches for one of the birdies.

At it again tomorrow bright and early with 6:50 tee time.

Also finally got score update in golf league. We trail by 2 strokes in net and lead by 2 in gross. Odd situation because team were battling with has a guy who was a golf pro till this year, but they get more strokes than us. His partner is terrible, like a 20 index. Didn't seem to hurt them in alternate shot and scramble, but I think next week's best ball format heavily favors us.
