Enough of the safety blanket. Let’s get someone who might actually challenge for a starting job. Teams just stack the box against Daniel knowing he can’t throw more than 10 yards. Bray is a chump that has somehow made it 6 years in the league and still has practice squad eligibility.

i could only find 5 backup quarterbacks that are clearly better than chase daniel

tyrod taylor
blake bortles
teddy bridgewater
ryan tannehill
case keenum

for shit sake, daniel had to play last year and he was not horrendous. can you fucking relax?

Not gonna happen. I think Nagy loves both of them and Pace refuses to draft a QB.

Pace “I think it’s a good idea to add a quarterback every year.”

And if he would have drafted a QB with one of his few picks this year people would have bitched about it

The current backup is not young and not an every game starter. There's no other developmental QB. If the offense takes 3 years to get, as Nagy has said, Pace would have to draft one next year for him to have 2 years in before he would have to take over. If Mitch shows even incremental improvement, he's staying. I really hope the Bears can win games because of Mitch and not just him along for the ride. You can't count on the D to keep you in every game.

wtf is a developmental QB? current NFL starters which were considered developmental or projects early in their careers?

dak prescott (to which dallas kinda fell in to because romo got hurt so he developed on the field)
nick foles
kirk cousins
Jimmy G (was a 2nd round pick and only sat because brady was brady)
russell wilson (again won the job year one so wasnt really developed)

I agree with you on Bray. That son of a b.itch doesn't deserve to be in the NFL. He's lasted 6 years? Christ. Didn't know that. How?

I don't know who you think they can get that's better than Daniel at this point. That guy can win you a couple of games if the defense is on.

If any NFL team loses their started for a long stretch, it's over for all of them anyway.

Mitch should lnow this offense inside n out, ZERO need for Daniel or Bray. Get two rookies behind him to learn..

Tom Brady (6th)
Ryan Fitzpatrick (7th and wont be a starter after miami starts the season 1-5)
Case Keenum (undrafted... and may not be a starter soon)

there's your list of current starting QB's that were drafted after round 4

this developmental QB you seek was not possible to obtain the last 2 years with the bears short on picks. they may go QB next year in the first 4 rounds. it's also ridiculous to expect a UDFA or late round pick to by a good NFL QB

nope
russ was a 3rd rounder... and he didnt develop... he played game 1 his rookie year because matt flynn was a fraud
kirk was a 4th rounder... would have loved to have seen bears fan comments if they had used a 4th round pick on QB in 2018 or 2019 draft
Foles was a 3rd round pick

congrats on being the first person to consider the 3rd and 4th round of the NFL draft as "later rounds".

Numbnuts, those are late round picks for QBs, i knew where they were drafted before you googled it. The Bears should be grabbing QBs every other year in rounds 3-5 until they find an elite backup with starter potential who can take Mitch job.

Fales had a rough night.

Even I can’t sugar-coat it.

He will bounce back. Shaking the rust off.

Nothing a quick blast from a firehose can’t fix.

312player is a rare level of stupid, but to call a 3rd round pick a late round draft pick is a new elite level of stupid.

you mean a guy like tyler bray?

He sucked in college. He reminds me of that Quinn guy who the bears signed to be their starter years ago. He becomes better in people's eyes the less he plays.

OK, they invested pretty heavily into Daniel. Nagy gets his safety blanket. Why not at least look for potential with the guy who is going to be on the practice squad.

As I said last night, Tyree Jackson for UB had all the measurables, 6'7", 250, 4.6 with a huge arm. He was getting no specific QB coaching at buffalo and the competition in the MAC hasn't been very good in years. Still, there are pro attributes to work with, just as Tyler Bray once had.

Chase Daniel is fine as a #2. He did ok in the two games he played last year. Basically kept the train on the track, which is all you can ask out of your backup QB.

If it gets to the point where Tyler Bray is taking any snaps during a game past the 4th preseason contest vs the Titans, its going to be a long, sad year my friends.

Maybe there is a way they can pick Logan Woodside off the Titans.

So teams have drafted QBs and they now are starting. Thanks for proving my point .

And who said QBs have to be picked after round 4?

We can sign Matt Ryan as a backup.

Stidham looked good last night. Probably would’ve been better than Riley Ridley.
