There is one person who is planting a flag here, and that person is the Cubs fan who has started two threads about a White Sox player's OPS.

One more home run, or 20 more homeruns is still more.

Yes, I post about more than one baseball team. Deal with it.

Sorry I follow your team better than you follow your team.

You have posted more about one team, and specifically one player, more than anything else over the last couple of weeks. Further dispelling the board myth that Cubs fans don't care nor post about the White Sox.

Keep up.

Are you saying his Obsessed Poster Score (OPS) is above .800?

IMU's OPS with regard to Abreu is a record setting 1.924

I am the baseball messiah. It is my job to help lead this board's posters to baseball enlightenment.

We're now at 18 consecutive games under .800.

Gonna need better than a .418 OPS from our future DH imho

So have we decided if he is so good the Yankees will way overpay to take him or if he actually is bad at baseball?

I might be fine with it if Abreu doesn't finish this year strong. Not going to the WS next year anyway. A 34 year old $15 mildough Abreu in 2021 might be a hindrance.

The Sox should be ready to win in 2020. Vaughn is likely not ready for a Championship team.

Collins came up and got two hits then was sent back to AAA as he isn't ready, either. You even started a thread about him, messiah. Do you not remember?

Win what? We're too fucking young. If 83 wins gets you into a play-in game, that's great, but for practical inspirations, it's 2021.

Giolito
Kopech
Lopez
Cease
Whoever (Nova, Dunning, Rodon for maybe 20 starts...)

That has the potential to be a pretty formidable rotation.

3B Moncada
SS Anderson
2B Maybe Madrigal, maybe Yolmer hitting 9th
1B/DH FAR SUPERIOR
C McCann
LF/DH Eloy
CF Robert
RF Leury, or sign an OF

That could be a pretty good lineup too.

If the youngins continue to improve and the team stays relatively healthy, thats a group that can absolutely contend for the AL Central next year.

The rotation needs a veteran lefty.
I agree with the optimism, but it's 2021 optimism. I don't see it all fully being playoff level next year.

This isn't an either / or. The Yankees are famous for overpaying veterans when their best is far behind them.

 Yeah. The Sox never pay for or acquire a guy who's well into the twilight of his career.

Twins and Indians might have something to say about that. Fans, me included, tend to look at their teams in a vacuum. Blue Jays and SD fans are doing the exact same thing we are. Looking to win in 2020 and win it all in 2021.

Other teams that will still be competing for a WS are Atlanta, Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers. Talent for MANY teams have come and are coming in waves. Not just the White Sox.

Look, I'm not saying thats a 98 win World Series favorite team. I'm saying that if those pitchers do what we think they are capable of, and the Andersons and Moncadas etc continue to improve, that is a team that can absolutely be a player in the AL Central next season.

The messiah doesn't want to stand behind his own words and make himself $50. Very sad.

Pitching takes time. We can credibly say Lopez and Giolito will be seasoned next year but be we can't and I wouldn't dare to say Kopech and Cease will be. There's many animals these days that come up to the plate viciously. And by golly, the Twins, have those guys. They have at like 7 guys at .800+ OPS. We have 2. Anderson and Moncada.

The messiah doesn't want to stand behind his own words and make himself $50. Very sad.

What were my original words?

I had stated the Yankees have interest in Abreu in 2020 and beyond and that they will make overtures to sign him.

I had never stated it was going to happen. I never even gave an opinion of how likely it was to happen.

The Yankees have been recruiting him and will attempt to sign him in the offseason. That is fact.

Quit being bigfan jr.

Your original words in this thread was that Collins should start at 1B, and that Abreu was likely to be traded to Tampa. You asked what sort of numbers he would put up in Tampa, then you got onto the Abreu to the Yankees train. I guess you aren't confident enough to stand behind either of those takes.

bigfan jr?
Oh, you mean being a condescending know it all in a forum for a team you aren't even a fan of!

Do you want to be called The Messiah or bigfan jr? Please clarify.

Get your facts straight. FavreFan's wager was $50 that he would or would not be on the 2020 Yankees Opening Day roster.

I made the Tampa Bay statement about Jose Abreu in early June, before he put together one of the worst 2 month stretches you could imagine. Yeah, no shit I was wrong. Small market Tampa Bay didn't want to get saddled with half of Abreu's $16M salary. Silly me for thinking Jose Abreu could perform at least as good as the average MLB hitter.

Frank, our team is never gonna be good again. I accepted this sad fact some time around March of this year.

I'm a baseball masochist. What can I say. At least you don't Dbag them in March like Kid Cairo used to do every season.
