Cautionary tale for the wayward youth of Chicago. Commit your felonies in Cook County where they aren’t interested in keeping you locked up.

Five teenagers have been charged and another was fatally shot after an attempted vehicle theft in Lake County, Ill., which led to a high-speed chase into Chicago Tuesday morning, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

A 16-year-old male, three 17-year-old males, and an 18-year-old woman, identified as Diamond Davis of Chicago, were charged with first degree murder in connection with the incident. They were charged with murder because a 14-year-old boy died of gunshot wounds sustained during the commission of a forcible felony, the sheriff's office said.

The five appeared in bond court late Tuesday afternoon where a judge set bail at $1 million for each of them. They are due back in court on September 5.

I have actually always liked that law.

Of course you do. Because it's a terrible law.

Yup.

It is pretty ridiculous how violent criminals often get off with less prison time than Blago.

Pretty fair take on the Lake County shooting:

Lake County homeowner probably wasn’t justified shooting at car burglars, but our absurd felony murder law says it doesn’t matter

Don't commit crimes and you won't be in a position where one of your accomplices is killed and you can get charged with murder.

Seems pretty simple.

Zorn is a pussy, he's the kind of bitch who gets punched in the face and coughs up his wallet n phone( this happens several times a day)

Wait in the house? Lock the doors wait for the police while people steal your shit? GTFO here.

I agree the felony murder law is dumb but if 8 people are stealing your property and armed with a 10" knive..shoot em all.

I wouldn't call a .357 " small caliber" what a cuck.

If this happened in Cook County they would have been charged with joy riding and released with no bond. Felony murder is a bit much. There should be some type of middle ground.

The quotes from mom of the year are priceless From Ssc blog.

Tyiesha Annan sounded tired, but mostly angry, as she talked about her 14-year-old son and the questions she has for the homeowner in Lake County who shot and killed him, telling police he fired his gun to scare the boy and five other teens off his property.

“Why would you just come out shooting?” Annan asked. “Two things are for certain. He shot him in the head. You knew what you were doing when you shot my baby in the head.”

And what's the second thing? We guess counting isn't momma's strong suit.

“He was a lovable child. I only had two kids, he was my youngest,’’ Annan said. “I’m the type of mother. ... I’m overprotective. I don’t let him go nowhere”

Except for that time he went to Lake County, right?

But about a week ago she allowed Ja’quan to stay with his cousins near Washington Park on the South Side even though they have had run-ins with the law. “My nephews, they steal cars sometimes,” she said. “Yes, they were wrong for being in a stolen car, but he was wrong for pulling the trigger."

So you know your nephews steal cars, and you let sonny hang out with them? And what about the knife? You let sonny hand out with armed felons? Armed felons with assorted felony charges in their backgrounds that you just admitted you knew about?

Annan said she has talked to her sister, the mother of some of the teens, and was told the last thing Ja’quan said was “I loved you." Annan added, "He loved his cousins.”

"I love you for taking me miles outside of Chicago, in a hot car, attempting to steal another car at knife point and getting me killed over a car we had no right to possess." Is that what he meant?

And this is just the topper:
"How are they taking the man’s car when they were already in a stolen car?” Annan asked.

Zorn was off base in saying the old man should have retreated into his house. As it was, it took over 10 minutes for police to arrive.

This wasn't just some basic car theft in my opinion. It's one thing to go driveway by driveway in Glencoe and find an open Lexus with the keys inside. It's another to drive to a house in the middle of fucking nowhere and expect to hotwire an Audi, which is essentially impossible. I think the chances are good the teens would have entered the house and forced the guy to hand over his keys, or worse.

Most cars also have the garage door opener in them . Pretty easy access to the house at that point .

Yeah, that's one thing where the Germans are smart. The garage Home Link transmitter doesn't work if the car is off (at least on any BMW or Benz I've had...I assume Audi is the same). Honda, on the other hand, doesn't have that restriction, so a thief could break into my wife's minivan in the driveway and basically open the house. Stupid.

Fired shots to scare off intruders?
That's a huge no no.
You don't get a warning shot. Warning shots are illegal by the way. The only warning shot you get from a legal standpoint in in the sternum when you are a threat to the life of a person or can cause grave harm.

I think it’s a stupid law, but by running off instead of going directly to the hospital did they contribute to his death? I don’t know, but it seems probable.

Whenever guys do anything like car theft or burglary you have to assume that they have a burner on them.

I mentioned this on here before but a couple of years ago i had a guy jump in my car at a stop light as he was trying to allude the police. I had the doors unlocked and he jumped in the backseat. The motherfucker asked me to pull off as soon as he jumped in and i didn't know if he was trying to run from those "guys" or the police. Either way i wasn't going to pull off. I assumed he had a pistol because what idiot would be stupid enough to jump in someone's car?

I told him to get the "fuck" out of the car as i wasn't going to drive off. After about 20 seconds of the standoff he jumped out. The entire time i was watching him to make sure he didn't reach for anything. The police arrived a little bit after he exited and a few chased him while a few others placed their guns on me. Its a good thing for me that i didn't flinch or i probably would have been out of there.
