It is nice. This feels like I joined a little league game now.

I'd probably have to quit the board if you agreed with Steve. :)

Yet if I did, somehow noone would be surprised.

You seem to take this that he was agreeing. First of all, he never called Mac. He also said that he'll bet the Sox and he has no issue putting money on them.

However, two hours later, and well before a game could have taken place, he is asking for what odds you will give him. He clearly thought there was no bet.

I see nothing that Frank said that he was taking the bet. Please show me where he says that he accepts the bet.

Once you say you take the bet, its on. It does not matter if you say 2 hours later, before the game that you changed your mind. It's too late. Whether he called Dan or not. Big boy rules.

No. You made one of the specifications that he would have to call Mac. You screwed yourself on that one. I'd agree with you if you hadn't brought Mac into this. Now you want to play the other side and say that it wasn't a requirement. You really are spinning in circles right now.

So the bet became active when you called Mac? Frank didn't have to call Mac? So, a message board is good enough for Frank to seal his bet but it's not trustworthy enough for you?
Elmhurst Steve wrote:
Make the bet through MJH on the air and I will call to confirm my agreement to the bet. The loser has to donate $100.00 to Mac's charity organization that fights Autism. How about it?

This is almost too easy. Please read that quote again Steve and come back.

So you believe the Cubs will win the World Series right now, but will not bet on them because the World Series is months away.

Would it be minutia to also point out that you misspelled consistent?

I think the Cubs are a very good team. You think if healthy, they will win the WS. I will bet you $100 on whatever terms you want that the Cubs will not win the WS, if healthy. So if the Cubs get D. Lee or Ramirez or anyone else hurt/not playing in their final series, you will not have to payoff the bet, nor will I. However, if the Cubs regular rotation is in tact, and their pitching staff is all healthy, and they dont win the WS, you lose the bet. Sound good? Or are there still too many variables(Like them just not being good enough?)

Like Rick said, we are getting tired of your attitude, and put your money where your mouth is or go home and shut the fuck up you hypocritical bitch.

Read that post again dumb-ass. He states that he will bet the Sox and that he has no problem putting money on them, but is not going to call Mac. Therefore I contacted Mac and let him know about the bet and the thread where it was posted. Read it again and if at all possible, have the driver of the short yellow bus, explain it all to you.

Boys, something tells me that ES is nothing more that a little attention whore. He needs it, positive or negative. He's more or less stated this as he's said that he only intends to rile us up. I'm troowiddit, he ain't gettin any more attention from me. I recommend that you guys think about doing the same. Again, he is only trying to piss you off. Why give him what he wants?

It may buck vegas odds, but with those conditions, Hell yes I will take your bet. One more condition though-if the Cubs make any trades to upgrade their team, I don't want to hear any crying about cancelling the bet. I will not claim that any trade hurt their chances and want to cancell the bet. I trust Hendry to make good deals. But I believe he will trade for another pitcher and I don't want any additions to the team to be grounds for calling off the bet. Payoff to be made through paypal right?

I think you misunderstood him. You may have thought he accepted the bet but he never said that. He said he'll bet the Sox. He never said he would bet them for that specific bet. He said he has no problem putting money on them. He never said he would put money on them in that specific bet. It's fairly clear because he asked a few hours later what odds you were giving them.

Here is clearly what happened.
1) You saw Frank said something bold.
2) You offered a bet that was clearly in your favor that only a moron would take it. You also wanted to have both parties call Mac.
3) You saw that Frank was considering the bet, but you took it as he accepted.
4) You got an erection.
5) You had a little bit of premature emissions when you knew you could call Mac.
6) You changed the original terms of the bet which included both parties calling MJH.
7) The Sox lost.
8) You triumphantly returned to the board as an internet hero.
9) You made an ass of yourself for another 7 pages.
10) You reached the zenith of meatballdom.

Frank never agreed to the bet. He never did the conditions that you laid out. Next time, be clear that the person took the bet. It's obvious that 2 hours later he didn't think he had taken the bet.

Thats fine. I'm glad you agree. Believe it or not, as a Sox fan, I've enjoyed rooting for the Cubs till now cuz they have are a really good, likeable team. It's rare that those two elements co-exist in sports. But this post is evidence we both agree to the bet. If you want it to be directly through Pay-Pal, I'm happy to do that, if you want it to be donated to a charity of our choice, thats fine too(since you are rich and all). Either method is completely fine with me. Let me know here.

I'm already going to lose the bet with Darkside(Buehrle's season ERA vs. Carlos), so maybe I can break even on this one.

Steve, you called in Mac and stared this nonsense of a bet I never agreed to. My exact phrase was "I will bet the Sox," but I never agreed to your bet.

You really should just die now. It would make this board, Elmhurst, and the world a better place. I'll kindly say, Fuck you Elmhurst steve, and leave it at that.

Okay the terms will be (since you offered the option) that the 100.00 is donated by the loser of the bet, to the charity listed today in the post about Mac's Son Patrick. If you have not read the post, its worth the time. As far as I am concerned, yes-the bet is official.

Ok, bet is official. Consider this a cyber-handshake. And yes, if you had bothered to read beyond Mac's post only, its obvious I read the article and I have had direct experience with autism, so I deem that a very worthy charity. The bet is on. Now if only we can stop the meatballness....

You are a welching loser and have no credibility, so your words mean nothing.

What the hell does "You stared this nonsense of a bet mean?

If you meant to say started, yes, I did. I offered you a bet after you made a stupid statement (again) saying that there was "No Excuse " for the Sox not to go 5-1 and I wanted to make you back up those words with cash, or back off the statement-which has already been proven wrong. You agreed to the bet. Then after I had pointed out what an improbability it was mathematically, that the Sox would go 5-1 on the homestand, you send another message hours later wanting to call off the bet, unless you get odds. Big boy rules. Once you agree to a bet, it's on.
So to the welching fat ass, loser-FUCK YOU!!!!

Gotta give me till after the next two weekends. Heck, I haven't even made a call yet on this, to the fellas. After the series at the Cell, I don't see taking the time for it though. But let it never be said now, that I dont believe that indeed, THE CUBS END THE WAIT IN 2008. Sorry, but like I said, just through the end of June.

Alright no problem. Due to circumstances out of my control, I won't have internet access from early July-early September, but I will have access after that and guarantee I will return any PM's and/or pay the bet. Like you, I consider it a very worthy cause and easy money for said cause.

Well FF, we should have saved this for sweeps week. This thread has gotten 168 posts and 1434 views at this point. Thats more than any thread in this section since the Sox got Swisher! It may have brought anger  and frustration :x as well as some laughter  and amusement, :) but it was not boring. Plus, we established that Frank is a pale, fat, ugly, wannabe rocker, who welches on bets :!:

I dont know how much I can agree with you there. The series has certainly brought me my fair share of frustration and anger, but no laughter. Also, Frank is on my short list of posters I hope to throw down a few soda pops with before I leave, and I think its very unbecoming of someone to make fun of him without even knowing him.
