As much as I've heard "North is out in July" and want to beleive it, I guess it could just as well be a new deal at a lower rate tied to ratings & performance - hah! LOL.

Just maybe someone brilliant tied part of his mega deal to ratings?

That part could be anything from control of the show to the time slot, I too would like to believe som of what has been stated, but really nobody knows except for a few who probably don't post and pretend not to read!

The only credence I am giving the post at this point is Annes contract I heard was ending in July and unless Mitch, Paul and whomever else has the keys to that place are so arrogant as to think the product doesn't stink a little, a new show, format or big change is inevitable.

Persoanlly, I don't see North going anywhere just put in a different position in the batting order.

I looked it up once & IIRC Mikey's current 5 year contract was signed in July 2003 ergo it doesn't expire until 2008

Here's some of the feedback from the Feder column (10/30/03) following the announcement that Mikey had reupped for $1,500,000.00/year... deja vu all over again?

Steven Herman: I read your column on Mike North. I never knew some in the business make so much. I am proud of Mr. North. He uses his own money as prizes on his show. Unbelievable. Unlike some radio stars, he appreciates his fans.

Vic Barks: A $7.5 million deal for big mouth Mike North? What are those guys at the Score smoking? During his time slot, my dial is tuned to WMVP-AM (1000). Listening to Mr. North is like listening to fingernails across a chalkboard.

Paul Montgomery: It's now obvious who is responsible for the decline in the Score's talent pool over the past couple of years. All those who lost their jobs in the station's "cost-cutting" efforts and have been replaced by no-name, no-talent host-wannabes can take comfort in knowing that the monies they formerly were paid are now marked to fill Mike North's pockets.

Patrick K. Porter: When I read about Mike North's new contract, I didn't know whether to laugh at the suits who gave this yutz so much money or to shed tears of joy that in America it remains possible for anyone with oatmeal for brains to make a ton of dough.

Don Pawl: I'll never understand how a meatball like Mike North could be awarded a hefty contract for screaming over the airwaves. After two minutes, my ears curl up, my stomach starts to churn and off I go to another station. Poor Doug Buffone. He's stuck sitting next to that palooka for four hours.

Roger Van Cleave: Mike North is a blight and an insult to listeners of sports radio. His inappropriate sense of humor and lack of insight is nothing short of shameful. It seems, though, that I am in the minority in this opinion.

Lionel Day: I would like to know how WSCR can pay Mike North $1.5 million a year. Do radio stations that are 24th in the market generate that kind of revenue?

Bill Fortune: Unless I am incorrect, this is the first time that a contract of this size has been offered and signed by a radio station that's not even in the top 20 in this market--or perhaps by any station lower than No. 20 in any market! If ever we were waiting for Enron-style management to be adopted in the radio industry, it looks like the wait is over.

J.D. Marks: Mike North has officially set back the "stay in school" campaign by 10 years.

Larry Carta: I hope the Score included a "diminished skills clause" in Mike North's new contract.

May Mole: Mike North a millionaire? Wow. Now I know there's proof that a higher being is punishing the talented.

I thought it was extended a year or so longer when he agreed to do mornings. All of this talk is BS as North will be at the station for the forseeable future. I'm no insider but radio stations simply do not eat those kind of dollars.

There seem to be a lot of threads/posts in the past day or so that believe North's show will be history by July (or so)....

Is this just a hope of yours ? a rumor that's out there ?

I really couldn't see WSCR dumping his salary....not to mention that the show has seen ratings improve - though they must improve much more to be considered a success.

I would like to see any of you critics run a radio show.

I have done it before, it is extremely difficult, and I can guarantee all of you internet Rocket Scientists would be lost and would fail miserably in trying to seize and maintain an audience.

I have met Mike many times, but we are not personal friends. He is not the only example of a successful figure who possesses a unique, albeit controversial, viewpoint, and who has the ability to logarithmically self-promote.

Such traits pique the public interest (both positive and negative - remember: any publiucity is good publicity), and they also both save and make money - a rare thing which holds enormous value in this business.

I love when people use the "I'd like to see you try it" arguement. Mr. Ex Radio dude what if you were to complain to your cable server and tell him the problems with your service. What would you think if he said "I'd like to see you try to provide cable"

The point is maybe we don't want to be in radio but we know when radio sucks.

Mike North has abilities? Shit he cant spell abilities. What the F*ck???

This clown has done several bad things to that station.

Love him or hate him, his BIG salary is the reason the talent has gone away or never came.

He embarasses REAL CHICAGOANS by claiming to be the voice of Chicago.

He costantly uses racial slurs that 99% of us would get fired for saying in our offices. He says what ever he wants.

And he's so damn misinformed about ALL issues whether it be sports, politcs, and World Events.

"I dink we shood nook AFGANISTAN off the face of the map"

Don't assume we all are bitching about nothing. We are right. The Score was a blessing for us crazed Sports Fans but now it has contributed to my growing dislike for Sports and all media in general.

If this guy is top notch, I can't be any part of it!

North is not succesful however. His numbers prove that. The Score is just stuck with his contract. If he was succesful he wouldn't have been moved to 3 different time slots in a 4 year span. How many people can get beat like a drum in afternoon drive and get rewarded with a mourning drive shift. Only someone with a huge contract.

u can find the little bartender on rush street. check out his old chop house gig and you can locate the mole. Fritz is also the holder of this information. It is true the contract was signed 2003 but for a spcific time frame. North will not be leaving but he will not have to wake up so earlier in the morning soon!

The little bartender also has a very interresting photo of Jen and Mike from a few years back.

Find the lilttle guy and the truth will be yours

Kind of a bold statement coming from a person who failed out of the business.

OK, got it. I'll shut up. You've really put me in my place. I'm not a house-builder, either, so I won't complain when my roof leaks, and I'm not a chef, so next time my steak is burned at a restaurant, I'll just eat it with a smile on my face.

Blow me.

I have run numerous radio shows. Many that never had higher numbers at the Score then when I was producing them.

It's not the brain surgery that you claim it is.

When the negative pub, far outweighs the positive pub, it ceases to be good pub anymore. Mike's negatives are a great example of this. the Bears are done, and there are no compelling stories right now. M&M will re-take the lead in the mornings with the next book.
