There is some family on my wife's side that are really good friends with the family of Conrad Gary, the officer who got killed on duty about 8 or 10 months ago. Saturday was his birthday, so the family spent the day at Wrigley Field. When Schwarber caught wind of this, he gave them tickets and basically demanded that they paid for nothing and he would take care of it all. He had them on the field pregame, then told them after the game to let the stadium empty out, stay in their seats, and he would come find them.

He did just that, inviting them onto the field to hang out until, "it starts to get dark, or the grounds crew has work to do." My wife's aunt thanked Kyle for all he was doing for the family, and he said he comes from a firefighting family and was "damn proud of it," and loves to give back to first responders whenever he can. She said he took dozens of pics and signed anything that anybody wanted, and was just an all around good guy. Jason Heyward was the only other player who came out to say hello to them.

He even gave the widow his personal cell number and told her to call him for tickets to "any game she wants, even in October, he would do everything he can" to get her tickets. Thought it was a pretty cool story.

Great guy. Still bad at baseball. Good story though.

That was really generous of him. It would be great if he were as good of a hitter as he is a person.

Cubs won't be playing in October, but the rest is thoughtful.

Ah, my pet peeve. It stems from HOF Jim Thome being called a better person than baseball player. Statistically impossible.

He’s certainly a better person than job recruiter

There's 750 MLB players in a world of 7 billion. I have a sneaking suspicion he's probably good at baseball.

He's not bad at baseball. He's just not "OMG, Babe Ruth, Theo's a genius, Go Cubs Win."

Right. But clearly he is not "Babe Fucking Ruth" as MANY claimed he would be.

Finally a Cub that I can root for since he hurts the team on the field but is a good guy off of it.

Babe Schwarber sucks, what a disappointment. Not as disappointing as The Theo or this already crumbling "Dynasty." The team looks to be totally out of gas and in line for another "rebuild."

But just look at those revenue streams! You can see them from Gongzhou!

Frank, did you ask him to take you to the plexiglass on top of the scoreboard?
