is that we knew and they knew they were great coming into the season. Everything was looked at in relation to winning a championship. There really were no ifs.

We are there again today.

People will see the light sooner or later. Today does not a season make. But today will make a sweet, sweet victory.

They looked like horseshit Week 1 against Tampa Bay.

It was the Minny Thursday night game when everybody started strutting.

It's easy to get caught up in the euphoria of opening day and be nostalgic, but this team is not destined for glory yet.

There's no charismatic HOF head-coach to lead them, for one. Without that guy and a fearless QB with a cannon, you'll have trouble even getting a playoff win.

A step in the right direction would be a win tonight against the arch-rival, to be sure.

Yeah, and even in that game they had to come from way back with a half-injured McMahon coming off the bench. I don't remember it the way good dolphin does. I would say it wasn't until they crushed Dallas with Fuller at the helm that I thought the Super Bowl was fait accompli. I think the next week they lost to Miami, but that seemed like a game they should have won against a really good team. And you know, one loss it don't make a season for the Bears:

My favorite quote from '85 was Rams' Jackie Slater on the sideline in the NFC Championship saying -

"They talk too much. Never seen a team, 16-1, talk so much."

Still amazes me that the team filmed the Super Bowl shuffle after the Miami loss. That took some balls.

Iirc the next week they shut out Atlanta 38-0. Then lost to Miami.

That's correct, almost.

36-0.

80 straight.

I can't remember if it was Marshall or Otis with the observation that the Lions were running out of quartervacks.
