I flew from the Lansing Airport to Paducah, KY on Sunday, 9/16. It was very strange. No other planes in the air. Ours was the only flight I saw.

A couple buddies and I drove around the perimeter of Midway on the evening 12th or 13th just to see what it was like. A ghost town. All the runway and terminal lights and everything was on, but there wasn't a single vehicle or plane moving.

Definitely eerie.

I was at Woodfield Mall doing some land survey work for a fiber route. A street sweeper from Walsh was giving us updates. The mall was emptied, everyone went home...except the construction crews. It was weird not seeing any planes in the sky being in the west to east flight path to O'Hare.

So, while everyone in our downtown office was watching the coverage while at work...I was actually working. The ex-wife was (still is) a teacher a Palos South Middle School, and they locked it down.

I was on my way to the driving range late yesterday afternoon. I hadn't thought much about 9/11 yesterday other than bits here and there as I saw or heard a mention. Anyway, heard Parkins mention how old he was and this was his first "I remember where I was during that" event. It made me realize I was 34 years old when that happened.

That is a long time ago especially when you think about how things are now. You either think so much has changed or has nothing changed?

I've mentioned before I was in DC at the time, working about a mile from the Pentagon. Funny how the reality of what was going on took time -- maybe an hour from the first inkling to the actual truth of what was going on. To this day I can't fucking stand the sound of fighter jets overhead. I would NEVER want to go to an air show. Anyway the saddest story is from my brother in law who was in NY at the time. His friend and co-worker was a new US citizen of Chinese birth. Maybe late 20s. He had an innerest in medical care for whatever reason and had become a trained certified EMT in his spare time (hey we all have our hobbies). So first word of what happens he shoots out the office and into the first tower well before it came down. He never left...helped people get out. Triage care, whatever.

My bro in law wrote a letter to his mother in China to tell her about what he did that day.

These fucking white nationalists piss me off so much I can't even see straight.
