That's a bit. Greg Cote has been at the Miami Herald forever and co-hosts only on Tuesdays. He plays the role of the cranky old man, and they deliberately get him to not realize that there's a hard network out and cut him off. It's an ongoing game, with (along with the rest of the show) a fair amount of keyfabe.

Previously, someone had compared DLB to Tony Kornhiser, a show I really liked. It took some time to "get" the TK show. I hope to give DLB the same effort.

Dog days of summer right now KE. Espn doesn’t really emphasize baseball like it used to. Hopefully, you can hang on until football season kicks off.

Also, if you’re not mildly interested in basketball the show might be a tough listen.

DLB show’s approach to basketball, and sports in general, is far more fun and usually less serious than SAS.

They talk a good amount of college basketball.

Throughout the NBA season they have Stan Van Gundy on once a week, but they don’t focus on basketball as much as you’d expect with him as a co host.

Now Dan is mad because Entercom suddenly moved his show locally in Miami from 790 the Ticket to the walking corpse of WQAM which is calling itself, I shit you not, "560 The Joe".

I heard this earlier. I mentioned the change to the lineup of our local podunk station, and it's two sports format frequencies. Somehow they have added Golic/Wingo, DLB and SAS shows in the morning, and moved Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen to afternoon and evening, mixing ESPN shows with Barstool sports shows. Oh, yeah, the HUGE show is the keystone at 9pm, when not preempted by Tigers games. Not an ESPN affiliate, they used to have this really local morning show, that has, fortunately , gone away. (Local beer league hockey draft talk was actually something...).

So far, DLB has been growing on me, I am not up to the love I used to have for Kornheiser, but it's getting more palatable. Three of four weeks has had a fill-in for Screamin' A, and the other guys have been okay. I made it 20 seconds of Smith before PTFB. Literally, 20 seconds. The first show. Done.

With the slow death of radio as a medium, and the tiny part of radio that is sports talk radio, it is amazing that we can keep any interest at all in this place. Management must be spectacular!!

Yeah, tbh it took a little while to grow on me as well.

I like the balance of older sports talking heads and younger producers more than anything.

Plus a lot of their inside jokes and segments are entertaining.
