not really familiar with his work. Biggs thinks he played a bit out of position on the outside with the Jets out of need but should excel moving back to nickel. He was very durable his first five years. Still has been in the last three but did miss five games over that span (not huge amount). He doesn't appear to be the pass rusher Callahan was but we will see how Pagano plays the position. I don't think they got better at the position with this move but he should be a more than competent player who will be on the field for 16 games and will make probably less than half of what Calllahan will get.

I love Callahan. You cannot give big money to a guy who is going to spend a quarter of the season in the ice tub. His body type and style doesn't indicate that will change as he ages.

like I said, Biggs thought he was miscast with the Jets playing far too much as an outside corner. Put Callahan on the outside rather than nickel and he is a different player as well.

There is no doubt Skrine is not better than Callahan but there were other considerations.

Pagano is known for his work with defensive backs. I have to hope he knows what he is looking at with the guy and how he would fit in the new system

biggs speculation on his "misuse" was clearly just that .... speculation... he didnt have any actual data to show the skrine was foreced to play sigificant snaps... i got the impression he was going off of memory or what someone from the bears told him

more interesting from the biggs hit was his info that he heard callahan was going to get around $8M AAV... didnt have any info on guarenteed $$

you don't think he has a friend who covers the NYJ who he gave a call to?

looking at his stats from last year showed he played corner, nickel, safety and lb.

My guess on Callahan is that he gets something equal to what the nickel got from the Ravens

not loving this move on its face but again, I'm not familiar with Skrine's work. Maybe he is better as a team defender making him suitable for nickel.

Skrine is about to turn 30. The contract, while affordable, seems overly generous for his work. What was the need to be aggressive with him?

I hate to lose Callahan for so many reasons but he is just a mixed bag.

Looks every bit as good as Callahan, boneheaded play on the PAT notwithstanding.

Callahan has already missed his first two games as a Bronco and is supposed to miss at least one more.

Callahan was always in the right place and he was a sure tackler. He just couldn't stay healthy all season. Skrine has been solid but he's a downgrade.

I loved Callahan. You could live with him missing games when he cost you nothing as it allowed you to have a guy like Mc Mannis available to step in. He was a huge success story and I'm glad he got paid.
