No, it doesn't and I made no mention of the preseason being valuable or not. That is a different discussion.

Yes, I think playing three quarters against the Colts would have better prepared this offense. Even if your plays are vanilla you are still working on online blocking/timing. The oline was shit vs the Packers. They were much better vs Broncos, but Fangio know Nagys playbook. If they don't hang up 30 vs Warshington, then panic.

It's not a different discussion. It's the discussion we are currently having. Your post was in response to Nas saying the offense needed live reps

Generally? No. I think this offense doesn't have a good rhythm and apparently timing too. It's possible that could have helped.

I'd agree with this. Maybe its possible Nagy and Mitch are a lot worse than we thought. I'm not even close to pushing the panic button just yet, but as these first two games have gone on, along with the Eagles game, that thought is creeping more and more from the back of my mind to the front.

I'll edit by saying that IMO the Bears biggest problem is a lack of execution from pretty much everybody on the offense- including Nagy- who is not named Allen Robinson.

Thank you for answering without referencing what another team does in the preseason.

I can recall 4 games that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's coaches were forced to remove the handcuffs and they asked (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky to win the game or put them in position to win. In the Baltimore game his rookie season, Miami last season, Eagles in the playoffs and yesterday. He won 2 of those games with his arm and Parkey missed kicks in the other 2. That's a great sign. The moment isn't too big for him and Nagy should probably remove the handcuffs.

Exactly, take the handcuffs off and stop playing like a Jbi11s

The handcuffs are on because Mitch can't throw the ball. Tends to be a problem for a QB.

He finds a way to do it when you have no other choice but to remove them. He has to be able to work out the kinks like all quarterbacks do. Just ask Peyton Manning and many other great quarterbacks.

Agree with NAS on this one. He has come through when he is needed. He always looks like he is thinking way too much and that is another check mark against Nagy. His specialty is supposedly developing the QB.

Nagy also is a worry. This supposed offensive genius coach has been very underwhelming this year but, as GD said, he is hamstrung at the most important position on offense. For whatever reason, Mitch has to be restrained in this offense and is not developing. So is this on the coach or is the QB just not gonna get this offense?

Dolphin was talking about the TE position. I think it's on both to figure it out. I think Nagy is a really good coach but he's still developing as a play caller. The league has adjusted to him but he's been unable or unwilling to counter.

Has any player/coach argued that the preseason has no value? I have seen it argued as a cost/benefit analysis.

I said when camp started his mechanics needed a drastic improvement.

It didn't happen.

Consistently throws off of his back foot.

Consistently does not set his front foot when he releases.

Consistently staring down his #1 target on every throw.

I think Nagy knows the weakness of his tackles. Leno is a piece of shit and Massie is pedestrian. I think that Nagy is probably hoping like hell that he can protect Mitch from a season ending injury and let his defense win games. There is no doubt in my mind that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has a ton of skill especially with his legs and escape ability. I think that Nagy is coaching afraid knowing that is Mitch goes down he has no chance and that is not a terrible thing to think about him doing.

Everyone who is giving Pace shit for not drafting Mahomes can look at their draft thoughts. 312 claimed that he and everyone else wanted Mahomes but in reality he didn't want the Bears to draft a quarterback in the first round because he believed that it was a terrible QB draft. Kizer and Kelly were atop a lot of draft boards here. Those who saw film of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky posted about him being the best. The search history doesn't lie.

Rational people wondered why Pace was fixated on a guy who couldn't break the starting lineup at a school known for its basketball program. If anything you trade down for a guy like (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky not up.

The search history shows that is a lie. Even 312 called him the best QB in the draft.

The O-line play has been horseshit so far, no doubt about that. Both in pass protection and in the run game. Harry needs to figure things out.

Watching other RPO heavy teams you notice how the QB's step up in the pocket to allow the deep routes to develop while Mitch drops his eyes and leaks laterally when first read is not there. The only time he really stepped up was on the next to last play. It would seem that all NFL teams should draft a QB at least every few years. If they develop great, but with all the injuries you can flip QB's that show promise for draft picks.

That's what I think too. Every time this kid plays mindless he's good. They're obviously coaching him to not throw ints but at some point a pick or two isn't going to hurt as much as zero fucking touchdowns. We've also seen enough of him being conservative it isn't working.

You should draft one at least every other year if not even more frequently than that. The only time they lose their value is when they actually play.

Its OK to play mindless with two minutes left in the game but if you let him do that from the opening kickoff it puts immense pressure on the defense to deal with a lopsided time of possession and turnover damage control.

Guys like RRH, Mack, Goldman and Hicks have basically an effective amount of snaps they can play. These limits are enforced almost by science, as the Bears down front is absolutely massive compared to the rest of the league and just from a kinetic energy perspective not enough energy can be stored in the human body to have men of that size play all out past a certain point. That size/strength is what makes them the players they are so you just have to accept this reality. When these guys get gassed the wheels start to come off pretty quickly and its not uncommon for this group to give up late scores.

You abandon any idea of ball control and field position? They will start expiring in the third quarter as opposed to late in the fourth.

Even in college (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky wasn't turnover prone. Will he make mistakes if you remove the handcuffs? Of course. You need him to get those things out of his system in order to win consistently. Besides the defense already has a lot of pressure with our Kyle Orton offense. They understand that they have to limit opponents to 7 in order to win.

Sucks or not is the biggest question to answer this year before extending. Might as well remove handcuffs, open it up and go nuts to find out. However you want to put it.

It doesn't matter what a bunch of dolts on a message board think. Only one guy gets paid big bucks to evaluate and select the players. In Mitch's case they went all in and put the foreseeable future of the franchise in his hands. If Gase was wrong then it is on him. No excuses.
