if the bengals lose another game or two, they may actually trade AJG for peanuts... would be a nice rental at reasonable price assuming he can easily be cut after the season

I believe that he's out until the 2nd half of the season.

Should be back in a few weeks.

AJ Green is in his mid 30's do we honestly feel he is an upgrade over say Javon Wims at this point?

I don't know. At this point we only have 1 WR and he's not great.

AJ Green is 31 and if you don't know who is better between him and Javon Wims then my suggestion is to ask someone who follows the NFL, because it is a hilariously stupid question who's answer is self evident.

So here's the argument for giving up a 2021 1st, 2020 Raiders' 2nd and a conditional pick (whatever it takes just to push the deal over the hump) for Ramsey.

Everyone looking for something they need to acquire on offense is missing the point. The OL is fine. The receivers are good. They are ludicrously deep at RB. TE is not pretty but I think Shaheen has been at least adequate to start the year and doesn't necessitate emergency replacement. The issue on offense is the QB, and the Bears are not going to be giving up on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky any time in the next fourteen or so months so to argue this point is moot. I know the production heavily contradicts what I'm about to say, but the offense is fine. I dont see how adding even a player lke AJ Green moves the needle for them. Its just another guy who's success is contingent on whether Mitch can hit him while he's streaking down the field wide open. Bears have plenty of those guys already and its not scoring them many points, I dont see how one more would suddenly turn them into an offensive goliath.

As for the defense, Ramsey would be transformative. It would make gameplanning for the Bears nearly impossible. I dont really need to spend much time explaining why adding one of the ten best secondary players in the NFL would make arguably the NFL's best defense even better. Common sense.

Then there is the matter of the cost. The Bears could actually keep Ramsey and its not at all far-fetched. Trade away Floyd to not eat the fifth year option, cut Amukamara and cut Long. It may also cost them Roy Robertson-Harris which hurts quite a bit but overall you accept that. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky isn't getting an extension any time soon. I know the Bears want to do it but they know they cant, it would be a true blunder.

Alternatively they could decide to just flip Ramsey off in the same way the Rams intended on flipping Khalil Mack last year. That way they recoup most (if not all, there's a good chance Ramsey's game goes to stratospheric levels surrounded by the Bears' talent) of the draft capital they gave up and avoid making any of those painful decisions that they would need to make keeping him around.

As long as the cost sits around what I initially proposed and it doesn't cost them a player (though Amukamara could be comfortably parted with I'm fairly certain the Jags dont want him) it makes a ton of sense.

Team supposedly asked if he played on Thursday if he would be eligible to play on Sunday if traded. He would not.

2020 Raiders 2nd and 2021 Bears 1st is enough to be the backbone of such a trade. Would need to chuck in a little bit more, but generally speaking that's enough to get it done.

Only if you believe the Bears are going to be lousy next year.

I'd happily give up a 2020 1st if the Bears had one to give. But two 2nd's or one 2nd + something else is likely fine. Especially since one of those 2nd's figures to be pretty early.

Are you supposed to give them whatever they ask for? I want to trade (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky to the Chiefs for Mahomes and a 1st round pick. I don't think they'll make that death.

The Bears won’t be in on it. Unfortunately I think Minnesota might be.

This has happened before with him and I'd still say odds are he doesn't get traded. Same thing happened with Patrick Peterson last year, and the Cardinals were (are) beyond dreadful. In an ideal world the Bears see this as a chance to maximize their shot at a title, and they are one of the few front offices that have proven their willingness to make big moves in the trade market, but odds they will are low. Odds anyone pulls it off are low.

If the Jags beat the Titans tonight the mood around them will change dramatically and suddenly the impetus to trade Ramsey will evaporate. If they dont then things probably get a lot more interesting.
