After reading about Satoransky I'm starting to get interested in the upcoming Bulls season. Seems like they made a couple of solid signings for a young team ready to take the next step (make the play-offs as a low seed). They're certainly not ready to compete for a championship but they should be competitive and fun to watch (finally).

Still think he is better suited for a backup role from 1-3. Even if he is he is still a much better option than what they trotted out last season. The Bulls bench should be much improved this year. Their starting 5 when healthy wasn't all that bad last year but once they brought in the D-League caliber guys off the bench it was a wrap.

I'm not sure how much better the bench will be, but they are trying to have more flexibility with the roster.

I don't expect much from White this season and especially early on. T.Young is the only bench player they have who has a track record...Archie will get backup PG time so maybe 7 players they trust.

Players like Hutchinson and Valentin are huge question marks being both unproven and injured, and the rest are lower end players.

Arch isn't going to play much as a 3rd string PG. If its Dunn or Satoransky its still a huge upgrade at the backup PG slot. Young is a huge upgrade too. I doubt if we see a lot of the Blakeneys, Harrisons, and Arch's this season and thats fine by me.

They go about 8-9 deep now which isn't all that bad.

Is Arch going to be the 3rd string PG? I think he can beat out Dunn for the backup PG spot. It's at least a training camp, early season battle.

I do think Young will provide steady minutes off the bench. He will help up-front off the bench. They need Hutchinson and/or Valentin to become good players off the bench else they will be very limited.

Right now, this is probably a 6 man rotation (even though they are going to play 9 guys probably most nights) of players who have some reliability. Of course, the backup PG spot will be a 7th player, but this looks pretty alarming too me given the lack of health from the starting unit.

Not only health, but consistency. They are going to have to show me both things before I can take the Bulls seriously.

Agreed. Clearly, the starting lineup has to be on the floor. That hasn't happened for much of the past 2 seasons. The starting lineup will be decent, but who will become better than just good NBA players? Maybe nobody, but Zach/Lauri are in their 3rd year in Chicago, it's time for one or both to become elite else this team risks being somewhere in the 30-40 win mark based on health.

Of course he is but he's got something wrong between his ears.

Can't guard a doorknob if you handed him an AK-47, a bullet proof vest and a helmet.

I still have a little hope that Dunn can be a good player. If it doesn't happen this year then it is probably not going to happen. He has tools but I don't know how much he works on his game. Seems like a guy content to have simply made the league.

Dates back to approximately 1992, I figure.

We're almost back into NBA season.

I don't think anyone here has watched a ton of Wizards basketball last year.

Speak for yourself. Satoransky is a decent backup. If he is playing starter's minutes then he is going to get exposed. If Dunn doesn't turn it on this year then they are screwed.

Checked him out about 7-10 times after the Jabari Parker trade. As a bench guy he is fine but I think GarPax have him pegged as a starting caliber PG. That's a mistake in my opinion.

ONe of the more interesting takes for me was the comment regarding drives per game. Guess whose name appears as someone that attacks the rim even less than Satoransky?

So how does this affect Satoransky? It isn't exactly his style. Of point guards who averaged 27 minutes per game, Satoransky's 6.1 drives were 40th of 43 players (Ball, Beverley and Forbes were the others who averaged fewer). This isn't necessarily an area Satoransky needs work, but if Boylen wants to continue playing a drive-and-kick offense, Satoransky will need to improve. He only produced points on 40.7% of his drives last season, a well below-average mark.

Satoransky has looked good. He and Coby White are the guys at PG going forward. Plug Dunn and Arcidiacono wherever minutes are needed after that.
