Bridgewater started pretty shakily and Payton wisely dialed down the big plays and made it the Kamara show, but Bridgewater didn't turn the ball over and became extremely effective when they needed him to man the ship.

i didn't like that it started getting close toward the end, the defense started breaking down. but bridgewater played a great game.

didn't expect to see seattle struggle so badly at home.

honestly, though, this is how payton should design his playbook for brees at this point too. in the houston game, there were just bad throws by brees instead of leaning on kamara, which today proved you can do.

today made me a teddy fan for sure.

Brees may be physically done. As good as Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Rivers etc. have been they are not Brady. They're not even Favre. Age is coming for all of them and if Brees is done the dropoff will be sudden, same way it was with Peyton.

That doesn’t even matter. If he can come back, and all indications are he can this year, he’s getting the jobs to at least finish off the year.

That depends. Once upon a time Drew Bledsoe was ready to come back and we all know how that ended.

Payton has gone out of his way to acquire and keep Bridgewater. I think he's been waiting for exactly this moment and while there's no real animus between the coach and Brees the Saints are ready to move on.

Bledsoe never had close to the currency Brees does. You’ll see.

Of course he doesn't. Brees IS the Saints.

But at some point the right football decision has to be made and its clear that Payton really loves Bridgewater.

Brees has faded hard in the late parts of the last few seasons already. Unless he's going to get Brady's pick me ups, it's pretty apparent that he can't finish strong like the old days. Hopefully he takes all the time he needs to rest and fully heal. This may end up being a blessing in disguise, who knows.

Your Saints would represent the NFC every year if you had Brady with those weapons.

We’ll see. I don’t disagree with you I just don’t see the Saints not giving a healthy Brees his job back.

I think there is a part of Sean Payton that wants the world to know he deserves a lot of the credit Brees gets and that will play into things. I just dont think ownership will let it spiral out of control and someone will have to set aside their ego.

Either way Teddy has to justify it with his play, but I dont think that'll be an issue. Health could be though.

You can say that for 3-4 other NFC teams as well. The Bears would make it 5.

i don't think brees should come back any time before the bye week. i would expect him to be back by week 10, and like you said, might give him the recharge he needs to finish the season if they wind up in a decent place for a playoff run.

i need to see them whoop these counterfeit cowboys next sunday though.

Hilarious. Bridgewater is a good back-up but Brees is one of the best qbs of all time.

Nonsense. And if he ever wants to "move on" it would with a qb much better than Terry Bridgewater.
