I like Nagy and said that since his hire but it’s totally baffling how he uses RBs. Montgomery is awesome. Use him.

He's a rookie and it's week three. They are easing him in. He's already mostly displaced Mike Davis.

Your fantasy team is not our concern.

Unlikely. He's too busy coddling Mitch.

6 carries in a game like this before the last drive. Ridiculous.

Running back is a really really really hard position to master. Give it time...

Yeah, I did chuckle at easing him in.

I think you will get your wish next week. This game VS the Redskins was one where Nagy wanted to boost the QB's confidence against a lousy defense. Next week, I think you will see them run a lot more, as they try to avoid having Mitch lose the game against a defense that is far more capable and will put a lot more pressure on him. I think Mitch is pretty bad and running the ball every week A LOT, makes sense. Montgomery is really good and will be even better if used more. Plus, it will open up play action, which would be good. If Nagy thinks he is going to make an elite QB out of Mitch, he is delusional.

Yes. 20 carries next week would be great.

They had a fascination with Davis.

It seems to have subsided.

The production for Montgomery hasn't been great but the difference between the two is noticeable. Montgomery gets something even when nothing is there.

I think Nagy et al have a pretty strict belief in having the reps very spread out. My guess is the thought is can't allow one player to be so important to the team you cannot get past a loss of them to injury.

I don't really agree in this case but just guessing.

I'd like to see what Kerrith Whyte can do with a couple of touches a game

This is a big part of it. People seem to be drawing a lot of season-wide conclusions after only three games. Davis clearly has disappointed.

And not every rookie is Ezekiel Elliott or Saquon Barkley. Let Montgomery catch up with the NFL game pace. The guy clearly can break the hell out of some tackles but there's still a lot more to it than that. Against the Redskins he started to show some vision and patience that will definitely make him more viable going forward. Maybe fifteen-ish carries this week against Minnesota, probably even less. I dont want to overdo it and have him develop some sort of fumbling problem or other issue.

I took am ready for the Kerrith Whyte experience in short doses, but coaches know better than I and I do trust Nagy to unleash (maybe a bit of hyperbole) White at the correct moment.

Trying to go contrarian on Nagy and view him as a genius and not just as a young head coach who thinks he can outsmart the league, but that needs to learn the NFL. With the Nagy Genius lens applied, we can say that he is saving Montgomery for late in games or late in the season where his physical running style will work against tired defenders and that he uses his rotation system so that his key players stay fresh and his team peaks at the end of the year.

Probably for the best.

He's no Josh Jacobs.

What I see is both Chicago RBs starting out for a hole that doesn't exist and have to try to make something out of nothing. There just are not any holes for them to hit in stride. Its like they are playing with a center and two guards and the two other guys are observers. I hate to see this when they had a lot of money available to improve the offensive line in the off season.

I guess this is thread to post the news that Kerrith Whyte cleared waivers and got resigned to the practice squad.

Right, because he’s not an NFL player

I do enjoy dolphins deep cuts though

I think they will find a use for him. The Bears scouting department knows how to find backs.

I hope they try to use him. Nagy’s biggest flaw to date is his inability to use RBs appropriately.

I can’t. There’s mounting evidence what he did to Howard last year was borderline criminal

Wont hold it against him for that reason as well, but I think we all saw a little of why he was around in the third.

I was wrong about him. He doesn’t need the ball more, he needs it less. He’s not explosive enough to dance around as much as he does.

It wasn’t the turf or weather. It’s the 4th straight week he’s done this.
