As I've said many times, there are going to be games when the defense isn't all world and the offense will have to put up points to win. This was ANOTHER game where the offense couldn't do it.

Nas, I have no idea how you continue to place blame on the one thing keeping this team afloat. You would think after seeing this exact scenario played out over many Bears seasons, it would be easy to identify.

When I climb up from my meatball low I will crunch the numbers so you can see what I'm talking about. The Bears defense has given up a lot of points in the 4th quarter and overtime over the past year and a half.

The Bears defense's inability to get a stop in the first half had little to do with the offense. The Bears had a 4 point lead with 5 minutes left. If the defense got a stop the Bears win. Elite defenses get 4th quarter stops.

You can't expect even the best defenses to win you every game. Most teams get a FG with two minutes and two timeouts. The Raiders were content to give them the three points to prevent surrendering a lead to the Bears.

Here's a suggestion for the Bears: Start scoring points so NUMEROUS games needing 4th quarter stops aren't necessary.

Like when Cody Parkey was the Bears top scorer in their last playoff game.

You know that I'm not saying that. That doesn't mean that you can't demand more from a defense that wants to be considered an all time great unit.

There have been games like the Dolphins game last year when you assumed the offense had scored enough points but the defense kept giving up big plays until Parkey missed an overtime FG and the Dolphins won the game.

You play 4 quarters. This can't be the LeBron James defense. They gave up the lead in the 4th and the offense got it back. Then they allowed a journeyman quarterback to carve the up and gave the lead back to the Eagles with less than a minute left. That's unacceptable!

And the offense scoring 6 points in a playoff game is unacceptable. The goat of last year's team scored 9. They gave up 14 points to the defending Super Bowl Champs. Yet somehow, the defense was the problem.

As was said, you cannot logically expect the defense to win every game. You are basically demanding the defense to.play a near perfect game, every game. It's not going to happen. Focus where it needs to be. On the offense.

They gave up seven points in the second half and got two turnovers. If that's a bad second half it's a bad second half every team in the league would take.

They also stopped them on that drive but a questionable call and ST failure cost them.

Matt, I'm expecting the defense to play 4 quarters. I'm expecting the defense to get 1 stop late in a game. I'm expecting THIS defense not to give up more than a touchdown in the 4th quarter. Is this really much to ask?

I'm not trying to absolve Nagy's and the offense's failures over the past 10 games. I'm not looking past the failures of the special teams either.

They did get the stop Nas. The refs threw a makeup call flag. If every NFL offense got a mulligan once a drive there'd be a lot more scoring.

It goes both ways. if the Broncos didn’t get the bullshit roughing call that’d be one more game the Bears lost because the D gave up a 4th quarter lead
