Starting Verlander wasn't a complete disaster. An offense touted as the best since the '27 Yankees only pushing a single run across the plate vs the Rays bullpen start wasn't winning that game anyhow.

On PTI yesterday I think Wilbon said that the playoffs record for pitchers on short rest was 49-72. I guess it's 49-73 now.

Oddly, they mention Jack Morris's Game Seven ten-inning shutout, but don't feature it.

Saw a graphic today that since 2014 pitchers are 19-18 with a 4.5 ERA averaging a little over 4 innings per start on short rest in the playoffs .
