Cards were coming off winning Game 7 against the Mets; Detroit had swept the A's in the ALCS. Tiger bats were so dead they made Reyes and his approaching 6 regular season ERA look like a Cy Young candidate.

That's a good point. He had Dave Duncan with him at the time, too.

Didn't realize Duncan and LaRussa went all the way back to LaRussa's white sox days. Helluva pitching coach. LaRussa was mofo of a manager. LaRussa was feuding with his 3B all during the post-season in 2006, Scott Rolen. They'd show Rolen and LaRussa standing at opposite ends of the dugout when the Cardinals were up to bat. wtf dudes.

Lotta fall-out from the 2006 post-season.

Cory Lidle, fresh off of the Yankees losing to Detroit in the 2006 ALDS, flew his plane into the side of some building in mid-town Manhattan. Luckily his wife and kids decided to find another way out west, other than flying in a small plane with Lidle and his flight instructor.

Then the next spring Josh Hancock was driving around St Louis on a post-game bender, texting a potential hook-up and plowed into the back of tow-truck stopped in the road. This was only a month after LaRussa himself had been picked up for a dui during spring training. I think the Cardinals temporarily banned alcohol in the clubhouse after Hancock's death.

Just shows to go ya how much you need 2 top end studs anchoring your rotation. You can’t outhit good pitching . I was listening to the Astros game on the radio, Chris Singleton was saying that he thinks Cole will get upwards of eight years 250 million. Fucking yikes .

It makes 2005 that more impressive. Had to beat 3 AL teams.

Without Duncan, LaRussa would be nothing. Now actually without Duncan, LaRussa fakes he knows something and gets exposed.

Duncan was the brains, He had the trunk full of handwritten analytics that he fed LaRussa.

NEW YORK – Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between the Astros and Yankees has been postponed due to continued projections of inclement weather in the New York City area, Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday.

ALCS Game 4 will be played on Thursday at 8:08 p.m. ET.

The postponement moves Game 5 to 7:08 p.m. ET on Friday, with the clubs losing a potential travel day between New York and Houston. The Astros lead the ALCS, two games to one.

Should the ALCS return to Houston, Game 6 would be played on Saturday at 8:08 p.m. ET. Game 7 would be played on Sunday at 7:38 p.m. ET. All remaining ALCS games will be televised on FS1.

Good news for Bernstein. He can dust off his "MLB playoffs should be held at a neutral site in a climate controlled arena" argument.

It all started when Parra used the tune as his walk-up song in June in honor of his 2-year-old daughter. The moment coincided with a turning point for the team after a rather rough start to the season, according to The Washington Post, and was quickly adopted as the team’s good luck charm.

Fans began performing the iconic “Baby Shark” dance during games as part of a new ritual to hype up the players as they went up to bat.
While the song is annoying, the reason doesn't seem all that different than 'Don't Stop Believin' in 2005.

2005.

Last call for CC Sabathia. Consensus seems to be he'll make the HoF at some point? Surprised by that a bit. 250 the new 300. Or a different standard for players going in as Yankees. 3000 strikeouts tho.

251-161
3.74 ERA (mostly AL)
3093 K's
1.259 WHIP

No excuse for this in the playoffs. Just further justification for taking balls / strikes away from the home plate umpire.

Both Championship Series this year have been stinkers. That being said, the Division Series were good, and a good World Series will make up for just about any shortcoming.

Yep. And I wish Houston would find a way to end this series tonight.

No--I just hate seeing the Yankees on my tv. It's a dull series, too, as the Man with the Thick Penis pointed out above.

Using a #4 starter is just not good enough. They are using relievers and look what's happened. 3-1 already in the 2nd.

Houston doesn't have a #4. They left Miley off the roster.

Houston could've had Charlie Morton on a 1 year QO deal for half the cost of Greinke and without giving up the grip of prospects they sent to Arizona for Donald ZG. Morton was huge for the Astros in the 2017 Series.

With a 2 run lead and 9 outs to go, tempting to hand the ball to Cole :
