Huge credit to Lou and this kid.

I give Lou the credit for starting him. Micah was hitting well, no real reason to start Patterson. Just called him up. Had no done well previously when called up.

Also just giving the kid credit for back to back GREAT Games. Did it ALL. Ran, Hit, power and Cut off that J Dye should have been Double late in the game. If you saw Dye talking to D Lee about it while he was on 1st.

Always think when guys like Micah, E Pat, Gallagher do better it picks up everyones game. Whether it is the pressure they put on players or just the peer pressure to be as good as the rookie. Seems to work.

He's trade bait. Perfect for a team soon to be dropping salary and going young.

Over the 10 years or so of being a Cubs fan, the past two years were the first time I have seen position players come up from the farm and be more then just serviceable. Last year it was Fontenot, Theriot and Soto. This year Hoffpauir and Patterson look to be promising. Soto will likely be rookie of the year. Cedeno had a good start to the season.

Did you know Jason Dubois is back in the Cubs farm system?

He may be a legitimate lead off hitter too. Thats where he batted in AAA and did very well. He has very good speed and base stealing ability(One doesnt necessarily follow the other). I hope they take a little time to see exactly what he can do, before considering trading him. Good lead off men are hard to find, (just ask the White Sox) so it would be a shame to let a good one get away.

I honestly thought this was going to be about emailing Pat Hughes.

Yep, Podsednick has lit MLB on fire since leaving the Sox. it's good you found your future lead-off hitter though, lord knows you could use one(Not a shot at the Cubs necessarily, Sox need one more, but Soriano is one of the worst lead off hitters in MLB).

If I thought Soriano was a good lead off hitter, I would care far less, whether or not the Cub's gave Patterson a chance to show what he can do. Anyone who has read my posts about Soriano, knows that I don't think he should bat lead off. He doesn't take enough pitches, was reluctant to steal bases until just before having his hand broken, and has too low an on-base pct. Podsednik showed in his start against the Sox, that now that he's healthy again, he could help a team as a leadoff man. The Cub's like the Sox would really benefit from having a truly good lead off man, like Pods was in 2005. Thats why I hope Patterson gets a good look.

Was mocking the E Pat thing, but giving credit for the player.

I was done with it when the Bulls had Eddie Roberts E ROB, it was too lcose to B Rob and that should have been the end
