I'm already moving on.

Rematch of the 1959 World Series.

Bad news: Dodgers pitch pretty well.

Good news: Dodgers can't hit worth shit. I mean they are awful offensively.

Sox will take 2 out of 3 for sure. There is a chance we sweep. We'll have to pull out one 2-1 game to do that.

Yeah but depending on the day or week, the Sox offense can be just as bad.

Not really. They've been pretty damn good since the Tampa series. Of course they're gonna have some 1 or 2 run games. But that's all teams. Sox team offense is climbing in all offensive stats.

Who the hell makes this schedule? Play 9 in Chicago, go to LA for 3 and then come back for 10 more?

Hell, they should just bus over to LA.

Bus it? I know Jerry is, ahem 'frugal', but he's no Rachel Phelps.

I was making a joke about the fact that they are playing 9 in Chicago and then 10 more....this trip is sandwiched in between that like it's down the street.

Yeah it is pretty poor scheduling. Every team has a trip or 2 like that though. At least they have the off day today to travel, and the game Friday isn't until 3.

The Dodgers aren't nearly in the same class as the Cubs, and I actually feel better about this series than I did vs. the Northsiders at Wrigley. The Dodgers don't score as many runs, they've been banged up and I don't think their pitching is that great. Then again, while they're 5 games under .500 and a second place team in the N.L. West, they did take 2 out of 3 from the Cubs at Dodger Stadium earlier this month...

The Dogers are still without Furcal, Garciaparra, Andew Jones (who was hitting for crap just the same) and Jason Schmidt. It's a team that has been decimated by injuries. That said, they have a lot of young players who are playing pretty well and Derek Lowe pitching in the first game on Tuesday. Wednesday the Dogers have a lefty-Stults pitching. He did well in one start , going 6 innings giving up just one earned run. But in his career, he has not been very good and has had problems giving up home runs. The Sox should take 2 of 3 in the series. But they have lost 9 in a row on the road and if they lose the first game vs Lowe, it could get dicey. If they beat Lowe, on the other hand, they could sweep.

Yeah. That Lowe game is the one they'll have to win 2-1 probably. Buehrle is going for us that game. He's been pretty good in his last few starts.

Buehrle, Floyd, Contreras go for the Sox in this series.

So they've flipped Jose and Danks? If they have, considering how each threw against the Cub, thats a very wise move.

Your first matchup for game 3 makes more sense.

One more thing to keep in mind-The Dodgers start lefties in games 2 & 3 and the Sox have a losing record against lefties with a team batting average of just under .200 against them. The guys the Dodgers will be starting after Lowe should get beat like a drum-they are not GOOD lefties. But the fact is, they have had trouble with left handers.

Wrong Steve. Sox have done very well against lefties this year.

Last I saw, they were 4-7, with a .191 BA with 6 homers and 53 Strikeouts. What stats do you have on it?

Pretty sure that's wrong. I think Thome, alone, has 6 homers against lefties. I know he has 3 against Sabathia alone.

I'll try to find their record some where.

Sox are 14-11 vs left handed starters. Got that from baseballreference.com.

I think we've lost the last 2 vs lefties however.

I just went to baseballreference.com to check on that, and could not find any breakdown there on stats vs left handed pitching. The stats I got were directly from an article on the Sox own website. If the Sox are 14-11 against Lefthanded starters, that means you are stating that in 75 games to date, they have faced lefties in 1 of every 3 games as 14-11 means they have faced left handers in 25 games. That out of 75 games. With the number of Right handed starters being far greater than lefties that doesnt seem likely. Plus, as I said, I went to the site and did not see any sortable stats that broke down their games against lefties. If you can copy and paste it, I would love to see it. I know they just lost to Lilly and very recently to Kenny Rogers. As I said, the stats I got, were from the Sox own site. Although the article was a bit dated.

But to be accurate, they have not lost to the last 2 lefties they faced, as they beat Gorzelanny, in the Pirate series, between Lilly and Rogers.

In the interest of accuracy I have gone through EVERY box score from the 2008 season. In fact, the Sox are now 10-7 with 5 No Decisions against left handed starters. They have beat Gorzelanny, Perkins, Laffey, Sabathia, Zito, Sanchez, Washburn, Loewen, Eveland, and Rogers. They have lost to Lilly, Rogers, Kazmir, Laffey, Saunders, Burres, and Smith. They have ND's against Francis, Robertson, Sabathia as well as 2 against Willis.

They have lost 5 of their last 7 decisions against lefties however. They are now batting .235 on the season vs left handers. I knew they couldnt have 25 decisions vs left handed starters, at this point in the season. Last year, they were 16-28 against them. Thats 44 decisions on the whole year. Probably why they just signed Craig Wilson to a minor league contract. He hits lefties fairly well - .278 career against Southpaws. With the Sox starting to trend more towards the record they had last year vs lefties, they obviously want to beef up the right handed hitting.

Blue tinted glasses I see. Lilly did not get the win on Friday. So much for your interest of accuracy.

I got it by looking at the Sox break down. I scrolled down. In parenthesis it said what the Sox are vs. Lefties, Righties, on the road, on turf.

They are 14-11 agains lefties.

Plus I watch all of the Sox games and have heard DJ say how well the Sox have done against lefties this year. That's why I knew you were wrong initially, Steve. They were awful last year against lefties.

Tigers and Indians both lost tonight.

Twins are playing in San Diego right now.

Kinda sucks to get the bases loaded with no outs and only get one run. Not the first nor last time with this team though.

2008: vs LHP .235/.325/.406
2007: vs LHP .242/.321/.410

So actually they are performing marginally worse in average and slugging, and marginally better at getting on base. I'd say they look nearly the same. So unless DJ was speaking purely a win-loss record, he should take a look at some stats.

Those stats are against all lefties. Bullpen included.

I was talking about how the Sox do against lefty starters. They have a winning record this year. Last year they were horrible.

Hey!!!

We finally hit a pretty good pitcher. 5 runs off Lowe today.

Buehrle has a sub 2.00 ERA in his last 5 starts. 3-0 in that span.
