No chance.. unless they are trying to tank.

He'll be 2nd or 3rd on depth chart with two young guys coming in.. his bear career ends next season.. maybe he hangs on as a back up for a year mmthen this pussy is done.

I don't think Pace has it in him to cut ties.

When McCaskey's see 20,000 empty seats for last few home games they may call young Ryan into the office and make a few decisions for him and visor boy.

Pace can bring him back for one season before he needs to exercise that 5th year option.. right?

I don't know. I just know a serious GM would have forced his benching after last week's game and start scouring the trade market for alternatives.

No they wouldn't have. A lot of smart coaches have aging HoFers that may be leaving or retiring and they would love to turn Last Drive (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky into 4 Quarters (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. Belichick and Payton would make him an all pro quarterback.

In general he does. For some reason he doesn't suck on last drives.

Question for you guys: Say Bill Belichick was magically the Bears coach and GM starting tonight. What do you think he would do with the QB situation?

Small sample size, bruh. And again he's only in that situation because he sucked for the whole game prior to that drive. Anyway, whatever. This season is lost and so is (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. I called it weeks ago - biggest bust in Chicago sports history.

He would find a way to win. He would coach the players he has on his roster and not who he wishes he had. Then he would make the necessary changes in the offseason.

He would scrap the RPO, find a TE, add a FB, then run and short pass teams to death. Mitch would be under strict orders to take off and run with regularity.

Mitch will forever be tied to Pace. You can't miss this bad on a guy you traded up for and also missed on two potential HoF / once in a generation QBs in the same draft without it being your scarlet letter for the rest of your career. Not only will Mitch be the QB next year but expect him also to get a team-friendly extension for another 2 years.

You might want to re-watch the Alex Smith injury...he's never playing football again.

AMong the BEar's problems, Mitch is the middle of the pack. I believe the major problem is NAGY with a close second being the offensive line. The play calling all season has been pathetic and the failures especially within the red zone was awful in that game yesterday.

Yeah, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky made some mistakes but he also made a pay at the end of that game that very few qbs in the NFL could have made I think that Nagy has put him in a box and took away his one great ability and that is to use his legs to make plays. That is ON NAGY and no one else.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will be on the Bear's team next year. I have no problem with bringing someone else in and giving him legitimate competition. But I do think that Nagy should go or at least bring in an offensive coordinator who can use (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's or another qb's assets to make plays. But that all goes down the tubes if they do not make major upgrades to the offensive line.

Sunk cost fallacy
Individuals commit the sunk cost fallacy when they continue a behavior or endeavor as a result of previously invested resources (time, money or effort) (Arkes & Blumer, 1985). This fallacy, which is related to loss aversion and status quo bias, can also be viewed as bias resulting from an ongoing commitment.
For example, individuals sometimes order too much food and then over-eat just to “get their money’s worth”. Similarly, a person may have a $20 ticket to a concert and then drive for hours through a blizzard, just because she feels that she has to attend due to having made the initial investment. If the costs outweigh the benefits, the extra costs incurred (inconvenience, time or even money) are held in a different mental account than the one associated with the ticket transaction (Thaler, 1999).

Research suggests that rats, mice and humans are all sensitive to sunk costs after they have made the decision to pursue a reward (Sweis et al., 2018).

It makes the most sense to invest the rest of this season to his development.
