I mean I figured ratings would be better so everyone can complain on the radio, be outraged, say I told you so, etc. Of course they cheer for the Cubs to do good since they want are the flagship station and get bonuses in October if there are more games. Whats the reason to listen to sports radio when things are going gravy, besides the games?

I met 5 buddies for the game on the sw side.. the place was half empty.. I commented that the team was .500 and if they were 4-2 or 5-1 .. the place would be packed.. I feel the same for radio.

Cubs: no, that costs them money
Bears: no, but they'll take the controversy
Bulls: not really
White Sox: don't care
Blackhawks: yes

Yes I understand everyone at the station besides Zawaski hates hockey.

I enjoy the Score more when the Bears are awful. A total shitshow makes for good radio. I look forward to Mac and Parkins tomorrow.

Raw Bears emotion, either pride or anger makes for good radio. Bears apathy cannot be good for ratings and makes Bears Monday/Friday irrelevant.

With the exception of the old Doug and O.B. Postgame show, I personally listen to a LOT less sports radio when my teams are bad. Doug and O.B. were at their best after a Bear’s loss.

I generally avoid all sports radio after my team loses.

Shit, the death march under Trestman extended B&B's listenable life span for a couple of years. The Bears losing makes for better radio.

No, absolutely not. Team success = more fairweather fans = more ears = higher ratings = higher billing.
