Any pitcher has only so many pitches in his arm and this kid is truly blessed with a cannon of an arm. He needs to ration those pitches. The thing is being able to control whatever pitches that a guy has and to try to get the pitches to move late. Any decent major league hitter can hit a 97 mph fastball if it is straight. I've got my fingers crossed about Kopech. IF he makes it as a good starting pitcher or even worst case a shut down closer, that trade that got him over to the Sox along with Moncada has got to be considered one of the greatest trades in baseball history for both teams involved.

I watched him at AAA in 2018 when they played in Indy. He 100% has the stuff to start games, the problem was he looked REALLY bored pitching in AAA. I think it was a waste having him down there most of that year.

The Chicago White Sox have traded catcher Welington Castillo to the Texas Rangers, who might not exercise an $8 million option for next season and allow him to become a free agent.

Texas also got an international signing bonus pool slot worth $250,000 in the deal while sending minor league infielder and outfielder Jonah McReynolds to the White Sox.

Castillo's deal includes a $500,000 buyout for 2020. The 32-year-old catcher hit .209 over 72 games last season -- his second with the White Sox and 10th in the majors.
