I thought the Bears were a league average team?

Record wise the Bears are a bad team right now.

No it's not. Just because the Vikings do something stupid doesn't make it "market rate". And if little Eddie Jesus makes a easy kick vs the Chargers the Bears win that game.

I don't think you are stupid but you are really poorly informed, Caller Boob.

There were two kickers taken in the 2019 draft: Gay and Seibert. Both of those guys are starting. They were both drafted in the 5th.

I believe there was only one other trade for a kicker this off season: Kaare Vedvik. Both the Vikings and Bears put in an offer. That offer was for a 5th rounder.

You starting to see a market developing there?

Meanwhile, the one other trade for a kicker was Eddie Piniero, who was obtained for a conditional 7th.

Kaare Vedvik is out of the league
Austin Seibert is kicking at 100% but has attempted none at 50+ and has missed 2 XP
Matt Gay is kicking at 84% in TB more favorable conditions and has missed 2 XP

I'd say Pace did a nice job in obtaining Piniero

 Well, the conversation seemingly required me to state what the Bears record means about them currently.

Getting it back on track, what record are we predicting for the Raiders exactly? They may be average when some thought they would be bad. That doesn't mean the Mack trade wasn't a great trade by the Bears.

It's still going to be 2 very nice picks for the Bears.

Not nearly as good as the picks for OAK.

Your team was supposed to contend for the Super Bowl, not be in rebuilding mode when you are bereft of draft picks. Sad.

They are bereft of draft picks because of other stupid trades. The Mack trade was a net loss of 1 player(Mack + second round pick + conditional fifth round pick for two first round picks + a third round pick + sixth round pick). So, they gave up 4 total picks, and got back 2 picks and got a player who is clearly better than any first round pick they would have gotten. The loss of the second first round pick sucks but the silver lining is they did move up from a 6th and a 3rd round pick to a 2nd and a 5th round pick in exchange.

Mack is also still in his prime and will be for at least a few years to come so it isn't like they can't bounce back with him.

I guess we will see who wins the trade long term, but if the Bears "lost" the trade because they missed the playoffs in year 2 after a 7 win improvement in year 1 then I'm not sure what the Raiders have to do this year to "win" the trade.

Slightly revisionist analysis. I'm not picking winners or losers. Just saying the consensus was the trade was a lopsided disaster. It's looking to be a somewhat even trade.

That is what the analysis was at the time. That's what made the trade so good. They moved up in 2 rounds. That's a clear win for the Bears.

That means the Raiders success was getting two first round picks for Mack, and having to overcome the value they gave up by moving back from the 2nd round to the 3rd round in the year they got a 1st round pick.

Bears getting the 32 and 33rd picks, Mack in line for MVP, etc. was some of the sound analysis around these parts. This season you had Mack setting a sack record against the RAIDERS (he did tie a sack record held by many ).

The downward spiral continues.

You didn't enjoy your dream season enough.

Now you're basking in the glow of dual 2nd round draft picks! One of which keeps looking better and better and the other is looking worse and worse.

My favorite is “Mack is the best football player in the world and nobody is close” when it’s clear he’s not even the best defensive player in the league

Antaricamerica was pretty much a useless Football poster. Like 312player bad. It was awful.

His Sox posts are/were generally pretty good. Most of his other stuff, not so much.

Stands to reason the RAIDERS would not be able to keep one of the best kickers in the league.

That's a spicy meatball right there.
