Agreed.. next year needs to be Mitch( dogshit) vs a rookie drafted and an UFA for a legitimate open competition.

Andy Dalton, Alex Smith, Cam Newton, Joe Flacco could be realistic choices.

a few of those are under contract and would require draft compensation to acquire. this team cant keep giving up draft picks in trades.
If the Bears are going to acquire a quarterback, it will be by trading up to the first round with one or both of their second round picks.

No reason to waste picks on a castoff but they may have to for another shot at a franchise qb.

It really is strange how many of his good passes do get dropped. Much better quarterbacks throw a bad pass and a guy catches it two fingertips and yet (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky throws it and it bounces right off the guys hands. Are the other players just shocked it wasn't overthrown or something?

I was shocked that Allen Robinson didn't catch both passes. Cohen is useless and Montgomery was thinking about his next move before catching the ball. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has been more accurate the past 2 games. I think the Cohen's and Burton's of the team have checked out.

You're right if you replace the words "really well" to "fine". Montgomery's drop on the screen would've gone a long way. It was apt he drop that against Howard's Eagles. Nagy/Pace used a draft pick to replace somebody who didn't need to be replaced.

Nagy didn't know what to do after that drop. Mr. Next Play was stuck.

A coach who can't adapt and/or is stubborn, is a shit coach. I don't care what his IQ is, his communications skills, whatever. If you lack wisdom, lack common sense, you're doomed as a leader.

From Jon Greenberg in the athletic:

Quote:
I’m already 100 percent on board with the “Ditch Mitch” plan after the season, but I’m starting to get swayed on benching him for Chase Daniel. Not that Daniel is any kind of answer, but it’s clear there’s something malfunctioning with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and the offense. This is just embarrassing for everyone involved.

(Of course, you know, just like when Marc Trestman benched Jay Cutler for Jimmy Clausen, Daniel would probably get hurt after a game, making everything extra awkward.)

Would honestly be perfect with how this year is going

do people not acknowledge that chase daniel is terrible too? he's a different flavor of terrible since he was never billed as a franchise QB... but he's still terrible and would not be effective rest of season as he is too limited in what he can do passing the ball

It's definitely fucking embarrassing. We're halfway thru the season, and Mitch has five touchdown passes. Five. Three of these came in the second quarter against a terrible Redskins team. Two of them came in garbage time against the Saints when the game's outcome was long since decided.

Here is something else. Take a look at the Bears opening drives this season. You know, the scripted plays they work on all week. This is sickening, disgusting;

vs GB 6 plays, 7 yards, punt
@DEN; 3 plays, 1 yard, punt
@WSH; 9 plays, 20 yards, punt
vs MIN; 14 plays, 75 yards, Touchdown. Chase Daniel takes over on play #7.
@OAK (London); 7 plays, 46 yards, punt. Two Bears penalties. Chase Daniel @QB.
vs NO; 3 plays, 7 yards, punt. Punt blocked, resulting in a safety.
vs LAC; 4 plays, 7 yards, punt. One Bears penalty.
@PHL; 3 plays, 1 yard, punt.

So on their eight opening drives this season, the Bears have ran 56 plays for 164 yards, with 7 points scored. That is 2.93 yards per SCRIPTED play. If you want to break it down to make it even uglier, we can. Mitch's opening drives have resulted in 51 yards over 33 plays. 1.54 yards per play. If that isn't trash I don't know what is.

Obviously the Bears should have (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky take all the first team reps during the week, have him play one series and then put Chase in. That’s the only time Chase looks good, when no one expects him in there.

If you are going with the nuclear option, might as well go with Bray rather than Daniel. You know what you have with Daniel and that is a backup on the tail end of his career. At least with Bray, there may be some talent that has gone overlooked.

The Bears literally can save ZERO against the cap by cutting Mitch this year or next. He's going to be on this roster through 2020. Carry on.

Just because he is on the roster, doesn't mean he has to play.

Considering the thread is titled "Bench Mitch" and not "Cut Mitch" I figured I would explain it to you because we all know you are way too fucking stupid to have figured this out on your own.

Holy shit, look at that head.

The double chin for a skinny guy is a rough hand to be dealt

His face looks like someone made an imprint of a normal looking person on silly puddy and then stretched it out to grotesque proportions. I look forward to Marquis simulcasting the Score

Her hair conceals it a bit, but the woman in that picture also has an unnaturally elongated dome. Her forehead alone is the size of many dinner tables.

As bad as Mitch has looked, I still think under a different/better/experienced coach, he could improve significantly.The problem with Nagy is he's a narcissist and sees himself as Erwin Rommel out there crafting some brilliant game plan based almost exclusively on passing. Sure, any meathead football coach could win a game based on rushing the ball but it takes a real mastermind to win through the air.

Regardless of how good or bad Mitch's numbers look at the end of the year, they're going to get another QB but Pace CANNOT be the guy to make that choice considering he thought Glennon was worth 20 mil and then of course moving up in the draft to get ol' Mitch.
