People don't care so much in high school football, but if they did that for the Super Bowl overtime you'd know the NFL would change it immediately.
An extra point attempt in high school football is anything but a sure thing.
Anecdotal evidence from my 12 varsity contests this year is that you are correct. Most games for my crew were on turf this year, but the few on grass coincided with wet/sloppy conditions. It surprised me how many teams didn't opt to move the PAT spot to something better for their kicker.
People in general do not know how to coach or care a lot about kickers. I had a kicker (well a linebacker who kicked) a few years ago who hooked everything left. We just put every PAT attempt on the right hash. Problem solved
