He may not be the best of them but all of the top picks from last year and this year have issues. I don't know who will be the best but I'm not confident saying any of them will be better than any other.

Im confident in saying Watson and Mahomes are better, will be better and Allen as well.

Watson is a reasonable take, but the other two. Fucking nonsense.

312player = Fucking nonsense

No, 312player and Rube are right on this one.

Next year they blame the line and wideouts. 2019 they blame Nagy and the OC..2020 they awake from their slumber.

How long before Pace gets fired for picking (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky?

You have to recognize a fuck up and correct it quickly, Do not extend Mitch and draft his replacement next year.

This is his coach, these are his players (and lack of due to losing picks on asinine trades ala (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky), he lucked into Mack, this is a complete and utter shit show. This is his mess and it will not get better. How can a franchise continually miss on QB's?

The only good thing to come out of this is the Bears will have to answer Mitch questions all year until we miss the playoffs.. They will not go into week one with Mitch as their QB..The boos are finally coming and Pace and Nagy can't cover for this chump anymore.

Get QBs
Get a tackle and guard
Get 2 tight ends.

Any meaningful change won’t happen until Virginia McCaskey dies and they fire douchebag Phillips.

Sure, that's when they'll decide to go out and get John McDonough to take over for Phillips.

Ryan Pace is a fucking moron.

Happened to hear about that a few minutes ago on Mac & Parkins.

I am better off than MANY people in this world, I recognize this and acknowledge same. But I'm more intimately familiar with loss than I'd like to be ... loss of money, lots of job, loss of hope and propose, loss of pride, etc. So I'm unlikely to ever actively root for someone to lose their job because of all the other loss that can come with it.

Pace needs to be fired yesterday.

Along with all the other issues one might have with him, his now-exposed wilfull dereliction of duty is, as Mac said, appalling. He purposefully didn't do his job. No, just ... no.

I just finished this and was going to post it here, good job Doug in doing so. Article is really lengthy, but well done and definitely worth the time. Pretty depressing as a Bears fan.

The thing this article highlights to me, and this gets lost in how awesome Mahomes has been, is that Watson was the pick for the Bears. KC had the luxury of taking Mahomes because they had Alex Smith, that wasn't the play for the Bears.

Watson had such a high floor coming out of Clemson that he should have been the pick for the Bears. He maybe had the lowest ceiling, but his floor was demonstrably higher than Mahomes and Mitch.

To echo what Don Tiny said, the One Post of a decade ago would have rooted for someone to get fired, but the more mature me realizes that there is a very real person who is doing that job, and he's going to impacted in a lot of different, mostly negative, ways if he gets fired. I know Pace is a big boy and all, but I'm past the point of investing energy in the termination of someone's job.

I just want the Bears to get better. I realize that is a juxtaposition with not wanting Pace to be fired.

As I stated in the other thread...Parkins lighting Pace up. He's absolutely right. Mac allowed for an escape route for Pace if the medical staff didn't like the look of Watson's knee long term.

For me, after watching the way he played against elite talent, Watson was the man 100%

While I don't necessarily disagree with this or what DT said, it's going to be a lot easier for somebody who has had two commas in their salary over the past couple/few years deal with the impact of losing his job than it would be for us 'regular' guys.

I want the Bears to win. I want them to be in the playoff picture for MANY years. The Seahawks, Packers, Steelers, Giants, Eagles, etc have been able to do this recently. If making that happen means people get shitcanned along the way, so be it. If wanting that makes me a selfish bastard, then fine I'll wear that.

It's because Ryan Pace is a fucking moron.

-Let's start with he attended Eastern Illinois University, which even Dignified Rube could get accepted to

-He was a caddy in the Saints organization, and unless he engineered the signing of Drew Brees or the hiring of Sean Payton, there is nothing that stands out in his resume.

This is the guy that can't even fill basic roles on a roster like kicker or even a TE that has a pulse. He got lucky that Mack came on the market and that is it.

I was furious when the draft pick happened. I don't pretend to know more than an NFL scout, but there were a few obvious warnings signs:
- Lack of college experience as a starter should have automatically excluded Mitch as a first round draft pick.
- giving up the picks to move up one fucking spot.

Pace will be fired for this. There's absolutely no way he can dig his way out of this based on the time remaining in his contract and the other draft pick mistakes.

I can see a world where maybe Mitch figures some things out at another team. I've seen nothing to indicate Nagy will be able to do it. Guy can't / won't even prioritize winning over running his system.

Ryan Pace I'm sure has enough money in the bank to survive just fine. I don't feel bad at all wishing he be fired immediately.
