MANY in this thread assume that Pace is way more married to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky than is actually the reality.

What proof do you have that he isn't?

I think he gets one more shot at it too and I think he's earned that.

I'm not giving up on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky yet but I agree. Nagy needs to prove that he's capable of coaching another quarterback if it came to that. Outside of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky for 8 or 9 games last year the returns aren't great. Even with the guy who has been in the system for 7 years.

Well just think about it reasonably....why would he be? (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has looked mostly like shit. Pace isn't going to let Mitch fall flat on his face and cost the Bears the playoffs then come back again next year. This is a clearly playoff, probably even championship, caliber roster. Pace and everyone else knows what is holding it back most.

I think he is way more proud of collecting this deep group of really talented players (on both sides of the ball) and wanting to make the most of that than he is committed to the success of Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

One big mistake Ryan Pace made was when he took the job in 2015 he could have easily brought in his own QB in the mid-rounds of the draft or free agency to press Cutler. By 2015 pretty much everyone was fed up with Jay and even if the McCaskeys weren't yet ready to take the financial hit cutting him there's no way they would have stepped in and stopped Pace from having someone waiting in the wings when Jay only played five games in 2016.

But he stuck with lame-duck Cutler for two arduous, grueling years and when the wheels finally came off it was.......Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley that got the snaps. Just a wasted opportunity to give a guy a shot.

This team needs (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky to be slightly better than he was last year in order to compete for a Super Bowl. With the exception of 1 quarter and 1 play he's arguably been worse than he was with Dowell Loggains.

Right. And I've seen nothing from Ryan Pace that shows he deludes himself into thinking a player is way better than he actually is. Its one thing to make a poor evaluation or bring in a guy that doesn't meet expectations. EVERY team in the NFL does that every year and the Bears are no exception.

But its another thing to stick with a player who is failing to meet those expectations past a reasonable point. That's a much worse sin and one the Bears under Pace really haven't committed except in the glaring case of Cutler. Very few NFL teams would give up on the second overall pick quarterback before or even during his third year. It would need to be a Jamarcus Russell situation. They'll see how this year plays out. I would even advocate for Mitch getting a clean slate from this day forward. The Bears aren't going to cruise into the playoffs like they did last year, and they dont have nearly the offensive line or runningback talent now either. If Mitch can get them to the playoffs I'm willing to give him another shot.

It's human to be biased. It's not unreasonable to think Pace, given the machinations it took to get "his guy", might be more entrenched than you think.

The offensive line disproves this theory. Paid out a lot of money for OK guys. Got overconfident and fooled himself after 1 nice year. Now Bears are stuck with expensive bad o-linemen

Isn't it possible that NFL teams just figured out how to defend (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and the Bears and Mitch have no answer? There's a reason opposing players are coming out saying "We wanted to make Mitch play quarterback," Theyyyyy knowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Right now I cannot say that the Bear's are a verified Super Bowl championship caliber team. Not with that offensive line, no viable tight end, and the lack of a running game. The defense is championship caliber but even it is hurting with its defense against the run suspect.. You say that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is holding this team back and I say it is the offensive line and the TE position. We will see what happens. 8) 8) 8)

Pace gave up a first round pick.....to move up one spot in the draft to take a bust of a quarterback....when 2 others have proven to be successful. That's not just fucking up....that's fucking up on top of fucking up.

There is no way in hell his extension is not directly tied to Mitch's ability. Yes it would be very Bears to ignore a terrible resume and extend Pace, but I tend to think Geroge is a bit more realistic than the other McClaskeys.

Turns out the Head Coach he hired, isn't so great, either.....tick, tock.

It was nice to hear Nagy completely dismiss the garbage time stats from Mitch.

The "totally with you" response to the lack of runs is frustrating though.

So is the "I'll talk more about it in the offseason" shit.

Nagy clearly has an issue with Harry and the offensive line. Who missed a block on the first play? How many people missed blocks on the play Miller fumbled on?

He has a clear problem with the offensive line and their ability block. Something changed from last year to this year and guys just aren't blocking. Even the plays they successfully blocked on last year. He referenced the Bills game last year when the line correctly blocked the toss to Anthony Miller. Yesterday there was 3 guys blocking the same player and Anthony Miller was lit up and ended up fumbling.

Jackson is better and will continue to be better. Avatar sig bet based on agreed upon stats for this year?

I wouldn't bet on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky given how he has looked in the first two games. Things look bad. It is just two games though.

Enough data now?

I think he can be a good starting quarterback but it won't be in Chicago. Either he or Nagy have to go.

Google (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky throwing to the left or something like that. Check out all the independent analysis done on how awful and inaccurate he is throwing to his left and more generally anything beyond 10-12 yards. What makes you think he can be a good starting QB?
