None.

"He's a distraction." This team is already a dysfunctional mess.

"He's not good." Neither is Mitch or Chase.

"They'll lose fans." They won't. And even if they do, there's still a waiting list for season tickets.
You'd like to think so but my wife has an otherwise normal uncle living in Baltimore that refuses to watch the Ravens because he says "they kneeled".

sign him, lose a shit ton of idiot fans, and gain a shit ton of new bears fans that are probably equally as miserable in their own fruity ways

at the end of the day, we would rally behind a quarterback even if he was proven to be a wife beater or some other type of criminal. we wouldnt care. the only reason kappernick is outcasted is because donald trump said so? such fucking snowflakes.

The good teams all have quarterbacks better than him. The rest of the teams are better off losing anyways.

I do wish a team would publicly call his bluff. Offer him a league minimum contract and let him say no.

I don’t think there is any way the Bears owners would agree to sign Kaepernick. He was radicalized by his radical left girlfriend. She’s an activist, and she pushed him to be an activist too. Football is escapism. Fans don’t want politics in their football, including their own. They don’t want to have to explain to their kids what Kaepernick is doing, especially when he himself has a hard time articulating his girlfriend’s position, lol. Most football fans are conservatives too. So, most fans were turned off. The NFL was losing significant ratings when all this was going on years ago. The Bears owners do not want to lose money turning off a bunch of their fans. They are about money first and foremost. There are other reasons not to sign Kaepernick too, but I think this is probably the #1 reason the Bears wouldn’t sign him.

Who's kid is asking about what Colin Kaepernick is doing? I mean other than Bernstein and Julie.

Kid: Why does Kaepernick kneel during the national anthem.
Dad: He wants to bring attention to the fact that black people get shot by police more than white people.
Kid: Oh.
...
...
Kid: Can I open the bag of Cool Ranch?
Dad: I suppose.

Am I allowed to go back to not thinking Kaepernick could be an effective NFL QB yet? Because I thought he sucked 4 years ago...and then he started his protest and I was called racist for thinking he was a shitty qb.

Probably. Or you can go my way and wonder why anyone would think at this point in the season any team would think it is a great idea to sign a QB from the couch for 3 plus years at all. Without any politics and sideshow drama what would one expect after like another week to get contract done and 4 more weeks to get up to speed on fitness and system, calls, signals and any other crap?

Only a team that instantly had all their qb's including practice squad go down for the year would make sense.

I mean, say you are a bad-to-middling team and you sign the guy, hoping he can start games next year. Is this really going to result in more victories? Almost ten years ago, he found himself on a good team, and as soon as the team went to shit, so did he. He looked pretty good for 1.5 seasons, though.

He might add some value as a back-up. Maybe he offers some veteran leadership. He's gotta be better than Chase. I respect the guy for the activist stuff he does now, but I don't get the pity for him over the fact that he can't get a job in the NFL. He's already got a good job with Nike. And all the positive press anyone could ever want.

Whitlock is on Fox News now, I think? Or is always a guest?

Not unless you want to punish yourself. He expressly said yesterday that Kaepernick isn't enough of a man to play QB in the NFL. And how Kaepernick isn't qualified to protest police brutality, especially since he never lost a family member to police brutality, unlike Whitlock. Or how Kaepernick's efforts, misplaced as he considers them, cannot bring back the dead Whitlock family member.

Seemed like a strange way to personally attack the guy.

The Stephen one is like him ranting in a cell phone video alone. It is strange as hell.

He's got some strangely divergent numbers, some great, some bad. He's inaccurate, usually throwing below 60% completion. On the other hand, he doesn't throw interceptions and has a better than 2/1 TD/Int. His real value was with his legs when he was at his height. If he is a pocket passer, he isn't nearly as valuable. I would think the years off have been good for his legs but, as we all find out, you get slower with age. He always had a strong arm.

I agree with Stephen A. though, he doesn't really want to play football.

We all have to eat some kind of shit sandwich at work, even if you own the place. I don't think that makes the organization bad for demanding conformance and I don't think it makes the employee a sellout to conform. But this is the way the world is right now, no nuance or subtlety and judgements based in public perceptions.

Kudos to the guy for choosing the wardrobe that maximizes his looking good, though.

This could be the scouting report on mitch minus the last sentence.
