1. Jim Finks going with a RB named Willie McClendon over Joe Montana right as they were about to turn in the card to draft him in '78.

2. Ditka not keeping Vince Evans as the backup in '84 who had great mobility and a cannon for an arm. Engineered the most lopsided victory over the Packers in the history of the rivalry in 1980 by a score of 61-7. Wound up losing the '84 NFC Championship 23-0 because Steve freaking Fuller was our QB.

3. Bill Tobin trading away Doug Flutie in 1987 when he was totally worth developing.

4. Trading a #1 pick in '97 for Rick Mirer.

5. Drafting Cade McNown with our 1st pick in '99

6. Not keeping Jeff George after the '04 season.

7. Not putting Brian Griese in during the 2nd half of Super Bowl 41 over Rex Grossman.

8 Giving Jay Cutler a new 100million deal in 2014 and letting Josh McCown go.

(The Pace Blunders alone)

9. Not signing RG3 to backup Cutler in 2016 or since.

10. Passing on Dak Prescott with ALL 3 of our 4th rd picks in 2016.

11. Not signing Case Keenum in 2017 for like 12 bucks.

12. OUTBIDDING OURSELVES for Mike Glennon while Keenum led the Viqueens to the NFC Title game.

13. Drafting Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky over Mahomes and Watson.

14. Signing Chase Daniel to be our backup in '18.

Your father not pulling out 38 years ago is a bigger blunder than any on this nonsensical list.

Can you believe they actually had George on the team and didn't even play him?

For real. I knew from Lovie's first year that he didn't have a clue about QBs. He had a boner for Chad Hutchinson and annointed him the backup going into '05. 2 pre-season games in he realized his blunder. An entire off-season wasted on the guy.

You mean put Orton in at halftime over Wreck's, not Griese.

Absolutley not. Orton was NOT ready for a game of that magnitude. Griese was a still a very viable option at the time, and actually played very well in his mop-up appearances that season. He even scorched us bad 2 years later with Tampa.

I don't think either are smart enough to pull that one off.

Although, they might all just be different Beardown personalities.

You are missing the biggest one, losing a coin flip for the right to draft Terry Bradshaw

Well a coin flip is a game of chance.

My list was self-inflicted blunders by our genius decision makers over the years.

Don't listen to these guys. It's was a good list you put together, unlike their witless and mean-spirited posts.

Giving away two first-rounders for Cutler was also a mistake, as was trading Orton. He did fine with the Bears.

Orton's career passer rating was 81.2, 65th on the all-time list. For those two first-rounders, the Bears only got 4 pts. higher passer rating with Cutler.

Thanks. And yeah....sad Cutler didn't work out. He had the talent. Just didn't care. If only Mitch, who DOES care, had Cutler's ability.

Disagree with #7.. biggest blunder of that SB was not continuing to hand the ball off to Thomas Jones who Indy couldn’t stop and had like 1000 yards rushing in the 1st half.. instead they chose to put the ball in ‘fuck it, I’m goin deep’ Grossmans raccoon hands in the middle of a damn monsoon like ‘what could possibly go wrong..’

I will never forgive that idiot coaching staff for that bullshit

Not drafting Mahomes or Watson should be #2 imo.. otherwise solid list

My list was chronological, but (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky over Mahomes/Watson should be higher then #2. I think Montana would've been just average in a Ditka offense. Not the Hall of Famer he became under Bill Walsh. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky over Mahomes/Watson is #1 by a LANDSLIDE.

Yeah, Evans had loads of talent. Just stuck in the wrong era. In today's NFL, just like Flutie...he would have been a STUD.
